कबीर गर्व न कीजिये, इस जोबन की आस। टेसू फूला दिवस दस, खंखर भया पलास।।८६२।।
Kabir, do not be proud of youth, it will not last long. Just as the palash flower blooms for ten days and then dries up.
कबीर गर्व न कीजिये, देही देखि सुरंग। बिछुरे पै मेला नहीं, ज्यों केचुली भुजंग।।८६३।।
Kabir, do not be proud seeing the beauty of the body. Once separated, it will not meet again, like the snake sheds its skin.
कबीर जंत्र न बाजई, टूट गये सब तार। जंत्र बिचारा क्या करै, जब चला बजावन हार।।८६४।।
Kabir, the instrument is not playing, all its strings are broken. What can the poor instrument do, when the player has left?
कबीर गाफिल क्या करै, आया काल नजीक। कान पकरि के ले चले, ज्यौं अजियाहि खटीक।।८६५।।
Kabir, what will the careless person do, as death approaches? It grabs you by the ear and takes you away, like a butcher takes a sheep.
कबीर पानी हौज का, देखत गया बिलाय। ऐसे ही जीव जायगा, काल जु पहुंचा आय।।८६६।।
Kabir, the water of the tank evaporated as I watched. In the same way, the soul will depart when death arrives.
कबीर केवल नाम कह, शुद्ध गरीबी चाल। कूर बड़ाई बूड़सी, भारी परसी झाल।।८६७।।
Kabir says, speak only the name of God and live a life of pure simplicity. False pride will drown you like a heavy stone in water.
मरेंगे मरि जायंगे, कोय न लेगा नाम। ऊजड़ जाय बसाहिंगे, छोड़ि बसन्ता गाम।।८६८।।
People will die and pass away, and no one will remember their name. Settlements will be deserted, and the village of spring will be abandoned.
नर नारायन रूप है, तू मति जानै देह। जो समझे तो समझ ले, खलक पलक में खेह।।८६९।।
Man is a form of God, do not mistake it as mere flesh. Understand this if you can, for the world can turn to ashes in a blink of an eye.
आंखि न देखे बावरा, शब्द सुनै नहिं कान। सिर के केस उज्जल भये, अबहूं निपट अजान।।८७०।।
The foolish person neither sees with his eyes nor hears with his ears. Even though his hair has turned white, he remains utterly ignorant.
अहिरन की चोरी करै, करे सुई का दान। ऊंचा चढ़ि कर देखता, केतिक दूर विमान।।८७१।।
He steals from the poor but donates a needle. He climbs high to see how far the airplane is.
चेत सबेरे बावरे, फिर पाछे पछिताय।। ताको जाना दूर है, कहैं कबीर बुझाय।।८७२।।
Wake up early, foolish one, or you will regret it later. Your destination is far, says Kabir, so understand this now.
मूरख शब्द न मानई, धर्न न सुनै विचार। सत्य शब्द नहिं खोजई, जावैं जम के द्वार।।८७३।।
The fool does not heed wise words, nor does he listen to reason. He does not seek the truth, and thus he walks toward the gates of death.
कबीर वा दिन याद कर, पग ऊपर तल सीस। मृत मंडल में आयके, बिसरि गया जगदीस।।८७४।।
Kabir, remember that day when your head will be beneath your feet. When you enter the circle of death, you will have forgotten the Lord.
कबीर बेड़ा जरजरा, कूड़ा खेवन हार। हरुये हरुये तरि गये, बूड़े जिन सिर भार।।८७५।।
Kabir, the boat is fragile, and the boatman is weak. Those who have faith crossed safely, but those burdened with pride sank.
कबीर पांच पखेरुआ, राखा पोष लगाय। एक जू आया पारधी, लइ गया सबै उड़ाय।।८७६।।
Kabir, you nurtured five birds with care. But a hunter came and took them all away.
कबीर रसरी पांव में, कह सौवे सुख चैन। मांस नगारा कूंच का, बाजत है दिन रैन।।८७७।।
Kabir says, you feel secure with the rope around your feet, But the drum of death is beating day and night.
आये हैं तो जायेंगे, राजा रंक फकीर। एक सिंहासन चढ़ि चले, एक बांधे जात जंजीर।।८७८।।
Everyone who comes must leave, whether king, pauper, or saint. One ascends the throne, and another leaves bound in chains.
या मन गहि जो थिर रहै, गहरी धूनि गाड़ि। चलती बिरियां उठि चला, हस्ती घोड़ा छाड़ि।।८७९।।
If you can control the mind and stabilize it, it becomes deeply rooted. Otherwise, it will wander off, leaving behind even the strongest of things like elephants and horses.
तू मति जाने बावरे, मेरा है सब कोय। प्रान पिण्ड सो बंधि रहा, सो नहिं अपना होय।।८८०।।
Don't be foolish and think that everything is yours. Even your life and body, bound together, are not truly your own.
