गारी ही सों ऊपजै, कलह, कष्ट और मींच। हारि चले सो साधु है, लागि चले सो नीच।।१७।।

राम रहे बन भीतरे, गुरु की पूजा न आस। कहै कबीर पाखंड सब, झूठे सदा निराश।।२९।।
Even if Lord Ram resides in the forest, there is no hope in worshiping a false guru. Kabir says, all hypocrisy leads to disappointment.
कली खोटी, जग आंधरा, शब्द न माने कोय। चाहे कहे सत आइना, जो कहे सो बैरी होय।।३६।।
In this dark age, the world is blind and does not listen to the word of truth. Even if you present a clear mirror of truth, the world becomes hostile.
लगी लगन छूटे नाहिं, जीभ-चोंच जरि जाय। मीठा कहाँ अंगार में, जाहि चकोर चबाय।।४०।।
Once attached, it is hard to leave. The tongue burns like a beak. How can sweetness be found in embers, where a parrot would chew?
दिल का मरहम ना मिला, जो मिला सो गर्जी। कहै कबीर — आसमान फटा, क्योंकर सीवे दर्जी।।५०।।
I did not find a remedy for the heart; what I found was a mere patch. Kabir says, the sky is torn, but how can a tailor mend it?
यह माया है चूहड़ी, और चूहड़ा कीजो। बाप-पूत उरभय के, संग न काहू कीजो।।७५।।
This illusion is a mere game, and the game is the illusion. Father and son are entangled in this game, with no one remaining unaffected.
अटकी भाल सरीर में, तीर भया है टूट। चुम्बक बिन निकसे नहीं, कोटि पढ़न को फूट।।९१।।
The arrow is stuck in the body, and it cannot be removed without a magnet. Millions of recitations will not remove it.
उतते कोई न आवई, पासूं पूछूं धाय। एते ही सब जात हैं, भार लदाय लदाय।।९६।।
No one comes to help when you rise; you ask for help from others. Everyone has their own burdens to carry.
अवगुन कहूँ शराब का, आपा अहमक होय। मानुस ते पशु भया, दाम गाँठ ते खोय।।९७।।
The faults of alcohol make one foolish and arrogant. It transforms a human into an animal, and wealth is lost due to greed.
को छूटौ इहिं जाल परि, कत फुरंग अकुलाय। ज्यों-ज्यों सुरझि भजौ चहै, त्यों-त्यों उरझत जाय।।१०४।।
Whoever gets caught in this net is troubled and restless. The more you try to understand and get free, the more entangled you become.
कहा कियो हम आय कर, कहा करेंगे पाय। इनके भये न उतके, चाले मूल गवाय।।१०७।।
Where have we come and what will we achieve? They have not achieved anything; they lost the essence of their journey.
पत्ता बोला वृक्ष से, सुनो वृक्ष बनराय। अब के बिछुड़े ना मिले, दूर पड़ेंगे जाय।।१३१।।
The leaf said to the tree, 'Listen, O tree, I will leave you.' Once separated, we may never meet again, we will drift apart.
राम-नाम कै पटं तरै, देबे कौं कुछ नाहिं। क्या ले गुर संतोषिए, हौंस रही मन माहिं।।१४८।।
By reciting the name of Ram, one crosses over, yet does not receive anything. What is there to be satisfied by the Guru, when the mind is still restless?
बलिहारी गुर आपणौ, घौंहाड़ी कै बार। जिनि भानिष तैं देवता, करत न लागी बार।।१४९।।
I am devoted to my Guru, more than to the grandeur of gods. He who has received the divine light from the Guru, does not face any obstacles.
ना गुरु मिल्या न सिष भया, लालच खेल्या डाव। दुन्यू बूड़े धार में, चढ़ि पाथर की नाव।।१५०।।
Neither did I find a Guru, nor did I become a disciple; greed played its tricks. The world is sinking in the flood, and I am riding a boat of stone.
कबीर सतगुर ना मिल्या, रही अधूरी सीष। स्वाँग जती का पहरि करि, धरि-धरि माँगे भीष।।१५२।।
Without finding the True Guru, the head remains incomplete. Wearing the disguise of a hermit, one keeps begging for blessings.
बिरह-भुवगम तन बसै, मंत्र न लागै कोइ। राम-बियोगी ना जिवै, जिवै तो बौरा होइ।।१५८।।
The body suffers from separation and intense longing; no mantra or ritual seems effective. A person separated from Ram cannot live peacefully; they become mad with longing.
जो रोऊँ तो बल घटै, हँसो तो राम रिसाइ। मन ही माहिं बिसूरणा, ज्यूँ घुँण काठहिं खाइ।।१६०।।
If I cry, my strength diminishes; if I laugh, Ram becomes angry. Grieving within my mind is like wood being eaten by termites.
कबीर कलिजुग आइ करि, कीये बहुत जो भीत। जिन दिल बांध्या एक सूं, ते सुख सोवै निचींत।।१६४।।
In this Kali Yuga, much fear has arisen. Those who are bound by one heart cannot find peace.
इहि उदर के कारणे, जग पाच्यो निस जाम। स्वामी-पणौ जो सिरि चढ़यो, सिर यो न एको काम।।१६७।।
Because of this belly, the world is perishing in the night. The pride of being a master is futile, as it does not serve any purpose.
कबीर कलि खोटी भई, मुनियर मिलै न कोइ। लालच लोभी मसकरा, तिनकूँ आदर होइ।।१६८।।
The Kali Yuga has become corrupt, and no sage is found. The greedy and deceitful are honored instead.
त्रिक्षणा सींची ना बुझै, दिन दिन बधती जाइ। जवासा के रुष ज्यूं, घण मेहां कुमिलाइ।।१७३।।
Thirst is not quenched by watering; it grows daily. Like a dish in the pot, it shrinks even with time.
कबीर इस संसार का, झूठा माया मोह। जिहि धारि जिता बाधावणा, तिहीं तिता अंदोह।।१७७।।
Kabir says that this world is false, an illusion of attachment. The one who holds on to this illusion is enveloped in darkness.
तीरथ तो सब बेलड़ी, सब जग मेल्या छाय। कबीर मूल निकंदिया, कौण हलाहल खाय।।१८८।।
All pilgrimages are just a sham, the entire world is shadowed. Kabir says the essence is elusive, who can consume the poison?
हरिजन सेती रुसणा, संसारी सूँ हेत। ते णर कदे न नीपजौ, ज्यूँ कालर का खेत।।१९६।।
Anger towards the devotees and affection towards worldly people never leads to fulfillment, just like a barren field.
कबीर मारू मन कूँ, टूक-टूक है जाइ। विष की क्यारी बोइ करि, लुणत कहा पछिताइ।।२०५।।
Kabir says, the mind is like a desert, barren and empty. If you plant poisonous seeds, why would you regret the consequences?
मनह मनोरथ छाँड़िये, तेरा किया न होइ। पाणी में घीव नीकसै, तो रूखा खाइ न कोइ।।२०७।।
Abandon your desires; your actions won't always succeed. If you expect ghee to emerge from water, no one would eat dry food.
बिन रखवाले बाहिरा, चिड़िया खाया खेत। आधा-परधा ऊबरै, चेति सकै तो चैति।।२१०।।
Without a guard, the birds ate up the field. Some might be saved if one acts in time.
मैं-मैं बड़ी बलाइ है, सकै तो निकसौ भाजि। कब लग राखौ हे सखी, रुई लपेटी आगि।।२१५।।
I' is a great trouble; escape it if you can. How long can you keep fire wrapped in cotton, O friend?
कबीर संसा कोउ नहीं, हरि सूं लाग्गा हेत। काम-क्रोध सूं झूझणा, चौडै मांड्या खेत।।२३२।।
Kabir says, there’s no doubt when one is in love with Hari. Fight against lust and anger, like a warrior in battle.
जेते तारे रैणि के, तेतै बैरी मुझ। धड़ सूली सिर कंगुरै, तऊ न बिसारौ तुझ।।२३६।।
As many stars there are in the night, so many are my enemies. Even if my head is on the gallows, I will not forget you.
डूबा औघट न तरै, मोहिं अंदेशा होय। लोभ नदी की धार में, कहा पड़ो नर सोइ।।२७३।।
One who is drowned cannot cross the treacherous path; I fear. In the stream of greed, why does a person fall?
आगे अंधा कूप में, दूजे लिया बुलाय। दोनों बूडछे बापुरे, निकसे कौन उपाय।।२७८।।
One blind person falls into a well and calls another. Both will drown, and what solution can be found?
गुरु बिचारा क्या करे, ह्रदय भया कठोर। नौ नेजा पानी चढ़ा, पथर न भीजी कोर।।२९०।।
What can the poor Guru do when the heart has become hard? No matter how much water is poured, the stone remains dry.
कबीर गुरु की भक्ति बिन, नारी कूकरी होय। गली-गली भूँकत फिरै, टूक न डारै कोय।।२९६।।
Without devotion to the Guru, a woman becomes like a stray dog, wandering from street to street, and no one gives her even a crumb.
कबीर चन्दर के भिरै, नीम भी चन्दन होय। बूड़यो बाँस बड़ाइया, यों जनि बूड़ो कोय।।२९८।।
Kabir says, in the company of the sandalwood tree, even the bitter neem tree becomes fragrant. But a bamboo tree, despite its height, sinks in water. Let no one sink like that.
पशुआ सों पालो परो, रहू-रहू हिया न खीज। ऊसर बीज न उगसी, बोवै दूना बीज।।२९९।।
Raise and nurture even animals, but do not lose patience. Seeds sown in barren land will not grow, even if you sow twice as much.
साकट मन का जेवरा, भजै सो करराय। दो अच्छर गुरु बहिरा, बाधा जमपुर जाय।।३०३।।
The wicked person’s mind is like iron, and their words are harsh. If they cannot utter even two words of the Guru’s teachings, they will suffer in the cycle of birth and death.
साकट संग न बैठिये, करन कुबेर समान। ताके संग न चलिये, पड़ि हैं नरक निदान।।३०६।।
Do not sit with the wicked, even if they are as rich as Kubera. Do not walk with them, as it leads to hell.
खसम कहावै बैरनव, घर में साकट जोय। एक धरा में दो मता, भक्ति कहाँ ते होय।।३१०।।
The master may call her a wicked woman, but if there is a wicked person in the house, how can true devotion exist where there are two opposing ideas?
छठे मास नहिं करि सके, बरस दिना करि लेय। कहैं कबीर सो भक्तजन, जमहिं चुनौती देय।।३१५।।
If one cannot perform rituals for six months, they can do it for a year. Kabir says such devotees challenge even Yama (the god of death).
साधु-साधु सब एक है, जस अफीम का खेत। कोई विवेकी लाल है, और सेत का सेत।।३३७।।
The wise are all the same, like the field of opium. Some are red as a precious stone, and others are simply common.
यह कलियुग आयो अबै, साधु न जाने कोय। कामी क्रोधी मस्खरा, तिनकी पूजा होय।।३५५।।
This age of Kali has arrived, and no one knows the true saints. The lustful, angry, and foolish are worshipped instead.
गुरु के सनमुख जो रहै, सहै कसौटी दुख। कहैं कबीर तो दुख पर वारों, कोटिक सूख।।३६८।।
One who stays in the presence of the guru endures the test of suffering. Kabir says that even suffering is worth it if it brings countless blessings.
भेष देख मत भूलिये, बूझि लीजिये ज्ञान। बिना कसौटी होत नहीं, कंचन की पहिचान।।३७०।।
Do not be deceived by outward appearance; seek the inner knowledge. True gold is identified only through a proper test.
माँगन गै सो भर रहै, भरे जु माँगन जाहिं। तिनते पहिले वे मरे, होत करत है नाहिं।।३७४।।
One who asks for alms remains full, but those who keep asking keep demanding. They who keep asking will perish before they fulfill their desires.
काचा सेती मति मिलै, पाका सेती बान। काचा सेती मिलत ही, है तन धन की हान।।३८५।।
One gains intellect with raw (imperfect) means and skill with mature (perfect) methods. Associating with raw means results in loss of body and wealth.
मूरख को समुझावते, ज्ञान गाँठि का जाय। कोयला होय न ऊजला, सौ मन साबुन लाय।।३८७।।
Explaining to a fool is like trying to remove the dirt from coal; no matter how much soap you use, it won't become clean.
जो छोड़े तो आँधरा, खाये तो मरि जाय। ऐसे संग छछून्दरी, दोऊ भाँति पछिताय।।३९२।।
If you abandon it, you will face hardship; if you consume it, you will die. Such is the regret of the leech, which suffers in both ways.
प्रीति कर सुख लेने को, सो सुख गया हिराय। जैसे पाइ छछून्दरी, पकड़ि साँप पछिताय।।३९३।।
The pleasure gained from false love is fleeting, like the leech that, having grasped a snake, regrets it.
मैं सोचों हित जानिके, कठिन भयो है काठ। ओछी संगत नीच की, सरि पर पाड़ी बाट।।३९७।।
I realize that the wood is hard; the path becomes difficult when one takes the lowly company, like a river that has lost its course.
अनराते सुख सोवना, राते नींद न आय। यों जल छूटी माछरी, तलफत रैन बिहाय।।४०५।।
One who sleeps in comfort during the day does not find sleep at night. Just as a fish out of water suffers, the restless person suffers throughout the night.
उलटे सुलटे बचन के, शीष न मानै दुख। कहैं कबीर संसार में, सो कहिये गुरुमुख।।४०८।।
One who does not accept the consequences of twisted and deceitful words experiences suffering. Kabir says, such a person is truly a disciple of the guru.
खेत बिगारेउ खरतुआ, सभा बिगारी कूर। भक्ति बिगारी लालची, ज्यों केसर में घूर।।४१५।।
A careless farmer ruins the field, a cruel person disrupts the assembly. A greedy person ruins devotion, like adding dirt to saffron.
भक्ति पन्थ बहुत कठिन है, रती न चालै खोट। निराधार का खोल है, अधर धार की चोट।।४१७।।
The path of devotion is very difficult; deceit cannot pass through even a fraction of it. It's like a bridge without support, requiring careful balance to cross.
ऊँचा मन्दिर मेड़िया, चला कली ढुलाय। एकहिं गुरु के नाम बिन, जदि तदि परलय जाय।।४२५।।
The temple is high, with steep stairs; but the path of devotion is slippery. Without the Guru's name, one can easily fall into chaos.
डर करनी डर परम गुरु, डर पारस डर सार। डरत रहै सो ऊबरे, गाफिल खाई मार।।४३२।।
Fear is necessary for the supreme guru, fear of the philosopher’s stone and essence. Those who live in fear will overcome it; the careless will face punishment.
क्यों खोवे नरतन वृथा, परि विषयन के साथ। पाँच कुल्हाड़ी मारही, मूरख अपने हाथ।।४३८।।
Why does man waste his life on worldly pleasures? He cuts himself with five axes, the fool himself.
कुशल-कुशल जो पूछता, जग में रहा न कोय। जरा मुई न भय मुवा, कुशल कहाँ ते होय।।४४०।।
No one remains in the world to ask about well-being. Old age and death are inevitable; where is well-being?
बिरिया बीती बल घटा, केश पलटि भये और। बिगरा काज सँभारि ले, करि छूटने की ठौर।।४४२।।
The vigor of youth has passed, strength has diminished, and hair has turned grey. Fix what is broken before it’s too late.
विषय वासना उरझि कर, जनम गंवाया बाद। अब पछितावा क्या करै, निज करनी कर याद।।४५३।।
Involved in sensual desires, life has been wasted. Now what is the use of regret? Remember your own actions.
गगन दमामा बाजिया, पड़े निसाने घाव। खेत बुहारे सूरमा, मोहे मरण का चाव।।४५८।।
The sky reverberates with drums, but the marks of wounds remain. The field is ploughed by warriors, I yearn for death.
राम नाम कड़वा लगे, मीठा लागे दाम। दुविधा में दोनों गए, माया मिली ना राम।।४६५।।
The name of Ram may seem bitter, while money seems sweet. In the dilemma of both, neither the illusion of wealth nor the name of Ram is attained.
गुरु को मानुष जानते, ते नर कहिए अन्ध। होय दुखी संसार में, आगे जम का फन्द।।४७१।।
Those who recognize the Guru as a human are blind. In this world of suffering, they are trapped in the snare of death.
बिन सद्गुरु बाचै नहीं, फिर बूड़े भव मांहि। भौसागर की त्रास से, सतगुरु पकड़े बाहि।।४९९।।
Without the True Guru, one cannot escape the cycle of birth and death. The True Guru holds your hand to save you from the fear of the worldly ocean.
सतगुरु सांचा शूरमा, नख शिख मारा पूर। बाहिर घाव न दीखई, अन्तर चकनाचूर।।५०७।।
The true Guru is a real hero, whose entire being is filled with strength. While there may be no visible wounds, internally they are shattered.
कबीर बेड़ा सार का, ऊपर लादा सार। पापी का पापी गुरु, यो बूड़ा संसार।।५१९।।
Kabir says, a boat made of straw, laden with more straw, will sink. A sinful Guru will lead the sinful world to its downfall.
जाका गुरु है आंधरा, चेला खरा निरंध। अन्धे को अन्ध मिला, पड़ा काल के फन्दा।।५२८।।
The guru who is blind, and the disciple who is truly sincere. The blind leads the blind, falling into the trap of time.
गुरु भया नहिं शिष भया, हिरदे कपट न जाय। आलो पालो दुख सहै, चढ़ि पाथर की नाव।।५३३।।
Neither has the guru become a guru, nor has the disciple become a disciple. The heart remains deceitful, and the boat of stone does not rise above pain.
जिन ढूंढा तिन पाइयां, गहिरै पानी पैठ। मैं बंपरा बडने डरा, रहा किनारे बैठ।।५३४।।
Those who sought found it, diving deep into the water. I feared the depth of the water, remained sitting on the shore.
ऐसा कोई ना मिला, हम को दे उपदेश। भवसागर में डूबते, कर गहि काढे केश।।५३५।।
I did not find anyone to guide me. Drowning in the ocean of existence, I grasped my hair.
देश देशान्तर मैं फिरुं, मानुष बड़ा सुकाल। जा देख सुख उपजे, वाका पड़ा दुकाल।।५३८।।
Traveling from country to country, humanity finds great ease. Wherever there is happiness, there is also suffering.
ऐसा काई ना मिला, जासू कहुं निसंक। जासो हिरदा की कहूं, सो फिर मारे डंक।।५३९।।
I have not found anyone with whom I can speak without fear. When I share my heart, they end up hurting me.
जो कामिनी पड़दै रहे, सुनै न गुरुमुख बात। सो तो होगी कूकरी, फिरै उघारै गात।।५४३।।
One who is engrossed in worldly desires and ignores the Guru's teachings will degrade to a low state, like a dog wandering with exposed flesh.
पशुवा सों पालौ पर्यो, रहु रहु हिया न खीज। ऊषर बीज न ऊगसी, बोवै दूना बीज।।५४८।।
Kabir says, do not lose heart if you find yourself among ignorant beings. Just as seeds will not sprout on barren land, no matter how many you sow.
गुरु बिन माला फेरते, गुरु बिन देते दान। गुरु बिन सब निष्फल गया, पूछौ वेद पुरान।।५५४।।
Without a guru, one only spins the beads and makes offerings. Without a guru, everything is futile; ask the Vedas and Puranas.
सूता साधु जगाइये, करै ब्रह्म को जाप। ये तीनों न जगाइये, साकट सिंह अरु सांप।।५५५।।
Wake up the sleeping saint and make him chant the name of Brahma. But do not wake up these three: the miser, the lion, and the snake.
शुकदेव सरिखा फेरिया, तो को पावै पारा। गुरु बिन निगुरा जो रहै, पड़े चौरासी धार।।५५७।।
One who circulates like Shukdev finds the essence. Without a guru, one remains a wanderer and suffers through eighty-four lakhs of births.
कबीर दर्शन साधु का, बड़े भाग दरशाय। जो होवै सूली सजा, कांटे ई टरि जाय।।५५८।।
The vision of a saint is a great fortune. The one who suffers punishment like the cross, has their thorns removed.
मात पिता सुत स्त्री, आलस बन्धु कानि। साधु दरश को जब चलै, ये अटकावै आनि।।५७१।।
Mother, father, son, wife, laziness, and friends can cause hindrance. When a saint walks towards the path of truth, these obstacles come in the way.
साधु साधु सब बड़े हैं, जस पस्ते का खेत। कोई विवेकी लाल हैं, और सेत का सेत।।५९९।।
All saints are great, like fields of crops. Some are wise and pure, and some are full of virtues.
षड़ विकार यह देह के, तिनको चित्त न लाय। शोक मोह प्यासीह छुधा, जरा मृत्यु नशि जाय।।६१९।।
The six vices of the body should not be in one's mind. Grief, illusion, thirst, hunger, old age, and death are transient.
आजकल के लोग हैं, मिलिके बिछुरी जाहिं। लाहा कारण आपने, सोगंद रामकि खांहि।।६२३।।
People nowadays separate even when they meet. They cause their own loss and take an oath in the name of Ram.
बैरागी बिरकत भला, गिरही चित्त उदार। दोऊ चूकि खाली पड़े, ताको वार न पार।।६४०।।
Renunciants who are detached are good, but householders with a generous heart are also commendable. Both, if they are devoid of essence, are ultimately of no use.
घर में रहै तो भक्ति करु, नातर करु बैराग। बैरागी बन्धन करै, ताका बड़ा अभाग।।६४३।।
Perform devotion while staying at home, and practice renunciation elsewhere. A renunciant who creates bonds is truly unfortunate.
मांगन मरण समान है, तोहि दई मैं सीख। कहैं कबीर समुझाय के, मति कोई मांगै भीख।।६४४।।
Begging is akin to death; this is what I teach you. Kabir says, those who ask for alms are like those who beg for their lives.
सहज मिलै सो दूध है, मांगि मिले सो पानि। कहैं कबीर वह रक्त है, जामें ऐंचातानि।।६४५।।
What comes easily is like milk, while what is sought is like water. Kabir says that what is sought with effort is like blood, filled with hardship.
कबीर कुसंग न कीजिए, पाथर जल न तिराय। बदली सीप भुजंग मुख, एक बूंद तिर भाय।।६५१।।
Do not engage in bad company; a stone does not become wet by water. A drop of water falling into a shell's mouth cannot save it from the snake's bite.
गिरिये परबत सिखर ते, परिये धरनि मंझार। मूरख मित्र न कीजिये, बूड़ो काली धार।।६५५।।
Even if you fall from the peak of a mountain or the middle of the earth, do not befriend a foolish person; you will be lost in the dark current.
साखी शब्द बहुतै सुना, मिटा न मन का दाग। संगति सो सुधरा नहीं, ताका बड़ा अभाग।।६६३।।
Despite listening to many spiritual teachings, if the mind's stain is not removed, and one doesn't improve, then such a person is truly unfortunate.
ज्ञानी को ज्ञानी मिलै, रस की लूटम लूट। ज्ञानी अज्ञानी मिलै, हौवे माथा कूट।।६६४।।
When a wise person meets another wise person, they revel in joy. But when a wise person meets an ignorant one, it leads to frustration.
यह मन ताको दीजिए, सांचा सेवक होय। सिर ऊपर आरा सहै, तऊ न दूजा होय।।६७०।।
Surrender your mind to the true servant of God, who would endure any pain but never deviate from the path of truth.
अनुराते सुखा सोवना, राते नींद न आय। ज्यों जल छुटी माछरी, तड़फत रैन बिहाय।।६७२।।
In deep love, one finds peace in sleep; without love, sleep doesn't come, like a fish out of water, one spends the night in restlessness.
कबीर गुरु की भक्ति का, मन में बहुत हुलास। मन-मनसा माजै नहीं, होन चहत है दास।।६९७।।
Kabir says, devotion to the Guru brings great joy to the mind. If the mind is not pure, one cannot be a true servant.
देखा देखी भक्ति का, कबहुं न चढसी रंग। विपत्ति पड़े यो छाड़सी, केचुलि तजत भुजंग।।७१४।।
Imitative devotion will never take root. When difficulties arise, it will be abandoned just like a snake sheds its skin.
भक्ति निसैनी मुक्ति की, संत चढ़े सब धाय। जिन जिन मन आलस दिया, जनम जनम पछिताय।।७१९।।
Devotion is the key to liberation; saints all follow this path. Those who remain lazy in their minds will regret for lifetimes.
भक्ति पंथ बहु कठिन है, रती न चालै खोट। निराधार का खेल है, अधर थार की चोट।।७२०।।
The path of devotion is very difficult; it does not tolerate falsehood. It is a play of the unsupported, a blow to the unsteady.
कबीर गुरु की भक्ति बिन, धिक जीवन संसार। धूवां का सा धौरहरा, बिनसत लगे न बार।।७२२।।
Without devotion to the Guru, life and the world are cursed. It is like a cloud of smoke, which never clears away.
लम्बा मारग दूर घर, बिकट पंथ बहु मार। कहो सन्त क्यों पाइये, दुर्लभ गुरु दीदार।।७३२।।
The path is long and distant from home, and the way is fraught with many difficulties. Saint, how can one attain the rare sight of the Guru?
निज सुख आतम राम है, दूजा दुख अपार। मनसा वाचा करमना, कबीर सुमिरन सार।।७५९।।
The self-happiness is the soul's Ram, while the other is boundless sorrow. Through mind, speech, and actions, Kabir says, remembering is the essence.
सुख के माथे शिल परै, नाम हृदय से जाय। बलिहारी वा दुख की, पल पल नाम रटाय।।७६३।।
Happiness is inscribed on the forehead, but the name reaches the heart. I am devoted to the sorrow that keeps repeating the name every moment.
कोई न से जम बांचिया, राम बिना धरि खाय। जो जन बिरही राम के, ताको देखि डराय।।७७८।।
No one has escaped from Yama (Death) without holding on to Ram. Those who long for Ram, even Yama fears them.
लूटि सके तो लूटि ले, राम नाम की लूट। फिर पाछे पछताहुगे, प्राण जाहिंगे छूट।।७८५।।
Steal if you can, steal the loot of Ram's name. In the end, you will regret; the soul will be liberated.
अधिक सनेही माछरी, दूजा अलप सनेह। जबही जलते बीछुरै, तबही त्यागै देह।।७९७।।
The fish with more love is more attached, while the other has less affection. When it is burning in water, it abandons the body.
मिलना जग में कठिन है, मिलि बिछरौ जनि कोय। बिछुरा साजन तिहि मिलै, जिहि माथै मनि होय।।८१४।।
Meeting in the world is difficult, and once met, separation is inevitable. The separated beloved is found in the one who has a gem on their forehead.
जब लग मरने से डरैं, तब लगि प्रेमी नांहि। बड़ी दूर है प्रेम घर, समझ लेहु मन मांहि।।८२०।।
As long as there is fear of death, true love is not present. The home of love is very far; understand this in your mind.
आगि आंचि सहना सुगम, सुगम खड़क की धार। नेह निबाहन एक रस, महा कठिन ब्यौहार।।८२६।।
Enduring fire and heat is easy compared to enduring the edge of a sword. Maintaining love with consistency is a very difficult task.
सजन सनेही बहुत हैं, सुख में मिले अनेक। बिपत्ति पड़े दुख बांटिये, सो लाखन में एक।।८३०।।
There are many friends and beloveds in times of joy. But in times of calamity and sorrow, a true friend is rare.
मैं भौंरा तोहि बरजिया, बन बन बास न लेय। अटकेगा कहुं बेल सों, तड़प तड़प जिय देय।।८३५।।
I am a bee and you are a flower; I do not dwell in the forest. I will get entangled somewhere with a creeper, and my soul will suffer in agony.
राम भजो तो अब भजो, बहोरि भजोगे कब्ब। हरिया हरिया रुखड़े, ईंधन हो गये सब्ब।।८३९।।
Worship Ram now if you will worship; otherwise, you will regret later. The green trees have become firewood.
कबीर या संसार में, घना मानुष मतिहीन। राम नाम जाना नहीं, आये टापा दीन।।८४३।।
Kabir says, in this world, many people are devoid of understanding. They do not know the name of Ram, and their lives are full of suffering.
मैं मेरी तू जनि करै, मेरी मूल विनासि। मेरी पग का पैखड़ा, मेरी गल की फांसि।।८४५।।
Do not consider 'I' as 'myself'; it destroys the essence of my being. The burden on my feet and the noose around my neck are all because of this.
कबीर गाफिल क्या करै, आया काल नजीक। कान पकरि के ले चले, ज्यौं अजियाहि खटीक।।८६५।।
Kabir, what will the careless person do, as death approaches? It grabs you by the ear and takes you away, like a butcher takes a sheep.
चेत सबेरे बावरे, फिर पाछे पछिताय।। ताको जाना दूर है, कहैं कबीर बुझाय।।८७२।।
Wake up early, foolish one, or you will regret it later. Your destination is far, says Kabir, so understand this now.
कबीर पांच पखेरुआ, राखा पोष लगाय। एक जू आया पारधी, लइ गया सबै उड़ाय।।८७६।।
Kabir, you nurtured five birds with care. But a hunter came and took them all away.
दीन गंवायो दूनि संग, दुनी न चाली साथ। पांव कुल्हाड़ी मारिया, मूरख अपने हाथ।।८८१।।
You lost your spirituality for the sake of the world, but the world won't accompany you in the end. You have struck your own foot with an axe, foolish one.
काल चक्र चक्की चलै, बहुत दिवस औ रात। सगुन निगुन दोय पाटला, तामें जीव पिसात।।८८२।।
The wheel of time grinds day and night, With virtues and vices as the grinding stones, and the soul is ground between them.
मेरा संगी कोय नहिं, सबै स्वारथी लोय। मन परतीति न ऊपजै, जिय विस्वास न होय।।८८३।।
I have no true companions, everyone is selfish. Trust doesn't arise in my mind, and there is no belief in my heart.
कहा किया हम आयके, कहा करेंगे जाय। इत के भये न ऊत के, चाले मूल गंवाय।।८८८।।
What did we achieve by coming into this world, and what will we do when we leave? We neither belong here nor there, and in the process, we lost our essence.
विषय वासना उरझिकर, जनम गंवाय बाद। अब पछितावा क्या करै, निज करनी कर याद।।८९१।।
Entangled in desires and passions, you wasted your life. Now, what is the use of regret? Remember your actions.
पांचों नौबत बाजते, होत छत्तीसों राग। सो मन्दिर खाली पड़े, बैठन लागे काग।।८९७।।
The five instruments play, creating thirty-six melodies. Yet that temple remains empty, as crows come to sit.
घर रखवाला बाहिरा, चिड़ियां खाइ खेत। आधा परा ऊबरे, चेति सके तो चेत।।९०१।।
The caretaker is outside, while birds eat the crops in the field. Half the crops are ruined; if you can, awaken and be alert.
खलक मिला खाली हुआ, बहुत किया बकवाद। बांझ हिलावै पालना, तामें कौन स्वाद।।९०२।।
The world becomes empty with much talk and argument. A barren cradle shakes; what pleasure does it hold?
राम नाम जाना नहीं, चके अबकी घात। माटी मिलन कुम्हार की, घनी सहेगी लात।।९०६।।
Not knowing the name of Ram, you face another blow. The potter’s clay will suffer more blows when it meets the dust.
कबीर सुपने रैन के, उधरी आये नैन। जीव परा बहु लूट में, ना कछु लेन न देन।।९०९।।
In the dream of the night, the eyes are not engaged. The soul is caught in numerous plundering; there is neither giving nor taking.
हे मतिहीनी माछीरी, राखि न सकी शरीर। सो सरवर सेवा नहीं, जाल काल नहिं कीर।।९१९।।
O foolish fish, unable to save the body, The pond's service is futile, the net of time is not a cure.
यह औसर चेत्या नहीं, पशु ज्यौं पाली देह। राम नाम जान्यो नहीं, अन्त पड़े मुख खेह।।९२३।।
This opportunity is not recognized, like animals maintaining the body. Not knowing the name of Ram, in the end, one faces suffering.
हाड़ जले लकड़ी जले, जले जलावन हार। कातिक हारा भी जले, कासों करुं पुकार।।९२५।।
Bones burn, wood burns, and the fuel-burner burns. Even the defeat of Kartik burns, who will help now?
हाड़ जरै ज्यौं लाकड़ी, केस जरै ज्यों घास। सब जग जरता देखि करि, भये कबीर उदास।।९३२।।
Flesh burns like wood, hair burns like grass. Seeing the whole world burning, Kabir became despondent.
भय से भक्ति करै सबै, भय से पूजा होय। भय पारस है जीव को, निरभय हाय न कोय।।९३५।।
Everyone worships out of fear, and worship happens through fear. Fear is the touchstone for life, there is no one who is fearless.
भय बिन भाव न ऊपजै, भय बिनु होय न प्रीति। जब हिरदे से भय गया, मिटी सकल रस रीति।।९३६।।
Without fear, emotions do not arise, without fear there is no love. When fear departs from the heart, all the essence and rituals vanish.
आछे दिन पाछे गये, गुरु सों किया न हेत। अब पछितावा क्या करै, चिड़ियां चुग गई खेत।।९३७।।
Good days have passed, and no effort was made with the Guru. Now, what is the use of regret, as the birds have already eaten the fields?
मन राजा नायक भया, टांडा लादा जाय। है है है है ह्वै रही, पूंजी गयी बिलाय।।९३९।।
The mind has become the king and the hero, but the baggage of life is heavy. Alas, the wealth is gone and the misery remains.
अति हठ मत कर बावरे, हठ से बात न होय। ज्यूं ज्यूं भीजे कामरी, त्यूं त्यूं भारी होय।।९४८।।
Do not be excessively stubborn, for stubbornness does not help. As the cloth gets wet, it becomes heavier.
तीन ताप में ताप हैं, ताका अनंत उपाय। ताप आतम महाबली, संत बिना नहिं जाय।९५४।।
There are three types of heat, and countless remedies for them. But the heat of the self can only be resolved by a true saint.
दुरबल को न सताइये, जाकी मोटी हाय। बिना जीव की सांस से, लाह भसम ह्वै जाय।।९५८।।
Do not oppress the weak, for their deep sighs. The melted wax will turn to ashes with the breath of the lifeless.
चतुराई क्या कीजिये, जो नहिं शब्द समाय। कोटिक गुन सूवा पढ़ै, अन्त बिलाई खाय।।९६५।।
What use is cleverness if it does not contain the Word? A parrot may learn a thousand tricks, but in the end, the cat eats it.
करता था तो क्यौं रहा, अब करि क्यौं पछताय। बोवै पेड़ बबूल का, आम कहां ते खाय।।९६६।।
Why did you remain idle when you had the time, why regret now? If you sowed a babool tree, how can you expect to eat mangoes?
गारी ही से ऊपजै, कलह कष्ट औ मीच। हरि चले सो सन्त है, लागि मरै सो नीच।।९८७।।
From abuse arise conflicts, pain, and destruction. Those who walk with Hari are saints; those who fall are lowly.
कुबुधि कमानी चढ़ि रही, कुटिल बचन के तीर। भरि भरि मारे कान में, सालै सकल सरीर।।९९९।।
Wickedness is like a bow, and cruel words are its arrows. These words strike the ears repeatedly and pierce the entire body.
मुख आवै सोई कहै, बोलै नहीं विचार। हते पराई आतमा, जीभ बांधि तलवार।।१०१९।।
One speaks whatever comes to their mouth, without thinking. They hurt others' souls as if their tongue were a sword.
शब्द सम्हारे बोलिये, शब्द के हाथ न पांव। एक शब्द औषधि करे, एक शब्द करे घाव।।१०२४।।
Speak words carefully, as they have neither hands nor feet. One word can heal like medicine, while another can wound like a weapon.
सुर सती का सहज है, घड़ी इक का घमसान। मरै न जीवै मरजिवा, धमकत रहे मसान।।१०३९।।
The state of a true saint is natural, but it can be turbulent for a moment. Neither fully dead nor alive, they hover around the cremation ground.
चलती चाकी देखि के, दिया कबीरा रोय। दो पाटन के बिच आय के, साबुत गया न कोय।।१०५८।।
Seeing the grinding mill turning, Kabir weeps. Between two stones (millstones), nothing remains whole.
मूसा डरपे काल सूं, कठिन काल का जोर। स्वर्ग भूमि पाताल में, जहां जाव तहं गोर।।१०५९।।
Moses feared the time, the force of harsh time. In heaven, earth, or hell, where one goes, there is darkness.
बिरिया बीती बल घटा, केस पलटि भये और। बिगरा काज संभारि लै, करि छूटन की ठौर।।१०६६।।
The youth has passed, and the hair has turned grey. Fix what is broken and find a place to escape.
ताजी छूटा सहर ते, कसबै पड़ी पुकार। दरवाजा जड़ाहि रहा, निकस गया असवार।।१०६७।।
Freshly escaped from the city, a call went out. The door remained shut, and the horse left.
कबीर मन्दिर आपने, नित उठि करता आल। मरघट देखी डरपता, चौड़े दीया डाल।।१०७१।।
Kabir's own temple is always attended, yet he fears the cremation ground and lights a broad lamp.
घाट जगाती धर्मराय, गुरुमुख ले पहिचान। छाप बिना गुरु नाम के, सांकट रहा निदान।।१०७४।।
The riverbank brings forth righteousness, recognized by the Guru's follower. Without the Guru's name, there is no resolution to the troubles.
कबीर पगरा दूर है, आय पहूंची सांझ। जन जन को मत राखतां, वेश्या रहि गई बांझ।।१०७९।।
Kabir’s turban is far away, and the evening has arrived. The advice given to everyone remains unheeded, like a prostitute left barren.
टालै टूलै दिन गयो, ब्याज बढ़न्ता जाय। ना हरि भजा न खत कटा, काल पहुंचा आय।।१०८१।।
Days pass in delay and the interest increases. Neither devotion to Hari nor resolving the accounts, time reaches its end.
कबीर सब सुख राम है, औरहि दुख की रासि। सुर नर मुनि अरु असुर सुर, पड़े काल की फांसि।।१०८४।।
Kabir says all happiness is in Ram, and suffering is a heap. Gods, men, sages, and demons all fall into the snare of time.
पात झरन्ता यौं कहै, सुन तरुवर बन राय। अबके बिछुड़े ना मिले, दूर पड़ेंगे जाय।।१०८८।।
The leaves fall and say, listen, the tree is in the forest. Those who part this time will not meet again, they will go far away.
प्रीत रीत सब अर्थ की, परमारथ की नाहिं। कहैं कबीर परमारथी, बिरला कोई कलि माहि।।१०९५।।
Love for worldly methods is all for gain, there is no true selflessness. Kabir says, in this age, true selflessness is rare.
मेरे मन में परि गई, ऐसी एक दरार। फाटाफटिक पषान ज्यूं, मिलै न दूजी बार।।११०६।।
A crack has appeared in my mind, like a stone split. It cannot be found again once it has been broken.
अपने अपने चोर को, सब कोय डारै मार। मेरा चोर मुझको मिलै, सरबस डारुं वार।।११११।।
Everyone punishes the thief within others, but the thief within me I punish myself. I punish everyone with this realization.
मना मनोरथ छांड़ि दे, तेरा किया न होय। पानी में घी नीकसै, रूखा खाय न कोय।।१११४।।
Abandon the desires of the mind; what you have done will not be achieved. Just as ghee does not flow in water, so does not a dry diet fulfill.
धरती फाटै मेघ मिलै, कपड़ा फाटै डौर। तन फाटै को औषधि, मन फाटै नहिं ठौर।।११२३।।
The earth cracks when rain meets clouds, and cloth tears when pulled. There is medicine for the body’s ailments, but there is no cure for the cracks in the mind.
मन को मारूं पटकि के, टूक टूक ह्वै जाय। विष की क्यारी बोयके, लुनता क्यौं पछिताय।।११२५।।
Even if I strike the mind and break it into pieces, it remains stubborn. Why regret sowing poison when it is the mind that brings suffering?
मन के मते न चालिये, छांडि जीव की बानि। कतवारी के सूत ज्यौं, उलटि अपूठा आनि।।११३३।।
Do not follow the whims of the mind; leave behind the sayings of the living. Like a twisted thread, it is all meaningless.
कबीर बैरी सबल है, एक जीव रिपु पांच। अपने-अपने स्वाद को, बहुत नचावै नाच।।११३८।।
Kabir says that the enemy is strong, and there are five enemies in one being. Each one dances to its own tune.
बात बनाई जग ठग्यो, मन परमोधा नांहि। कहैं कबीर मन लै गया, लख चौरासां मांहि।।११४०।।
The world is deceived by crafted stories, but the mind remains unsatisfied. Kabir says that the mind has gone astray, amidst countless deceptions.
मनुवां तो पंछी भया, उड़िके चला अकास। ऊपर ही ते गिर पड़ा, मन माया के पास।।११४३।।
The mind became like a bird, flying up to the sky. But it fell down from above, and now it is caught in illusion.
मन पांचौं के बस पड़ा, मन के बस नहिं पांच। जित देखूं तित दौं लगी, जित भाग् तित आंच।।११४७।।
The mind is under the control of the five senses, but the five senses are not under the control of the mind. Wherever I look, there are distractions; wherever I go, there is burning.
मन के मारे बन गये, बन तजि बस्ती मांहि। कहैं कबीर क्या कीजिये, यह मन ठहरै नाहिं।।११४८।।
The mind, having been defeated, becomes like a forest; it leaves the forest and settles in the village. Kabir says, what to do? This mind does not stay still.
मन के हारै हार है, मन के जीते जीत। कहैं कबीर गुरु पाइये, मन ही के प्रतीत।।११६०।।
Victory and defeat are determined by the mind; the mind’s defeat is defeat, and the mind’s victory is victory. Kabir says, one finds the guru through the mind’s perception.
मन मते माया तजी, यूं करि निकस बहार। लागि रहि जानी नहीं, भटकी भयो खुवार।।११६३।।
Renounce illusion from the mind and exit from it. Without realizing it, one remains lost and bewildered.
कबीर माया पापिनी, लोभ भ्ज्ञुलाया लोग। पूरी किनहुं न भोगिया, इसका यही बिजोग।।११६५।।
Kabir says, illusion is sinful, and greed has misled people. No one has fully enjoyed it; this is its problem.
माया छोड़न सब कहै, माया छोरि न जाय। छोरन की जो बात करु, बहुत तमाचा खाय।।११६८।।
Everyone speaks of abandoning illusion, but it does not leave. Those who speak of abandonment face many rebukes.
मीठा सब कोय खात है, विष ह्व लागै धाय। नीम न कोई पीवसी, सबै रोग मिट जाय।।११७७।।
Everyone eats sweet things, but poison seems to linger. If one drinks bitter neem, all ailments would disappear.
मोटी माया सब तजैं, झीनी तजी न जाय। पीर पैगम्बर औलिया, झीनी सबको खाय।।११७८।।
Gross illusion can be abandoned by all, but subtle illusion cannot be easily left behind. Saints, prophets, and holy people all fall prey to the subtle illusion.
ऊंची डाली प्रेम की, हरिजन बैठा खाय। नीचे बैठी बाघिनी, गिर पड़े तिहि खाय।।११७९।।
The high branch of love supports the saints, while the low sitting tigress may fall and eat them.
करक पड़ा मैदान में, कुकुर मिले लख कोट। दावा कर लड़ि मुए, अन्त चले सब छोड़।।११८२।।
A person lay in the field, surrounded by thousands of dogs. They fought claiming victory, but in the end, they left everything behind.
माया संच संग्रहै, वह दिन जानै नांहि। सहस बरस की सब करै, मर मुहूरत मांहि।।११८५।।
Illusion gathers and stores, but it does not know the day it will end. All the efforts of a thousand years come to nothing in a moment of death.
कबीर माया सांपिनी, जनता ही को खाय। ऐसा मिलना न गारुड़ी, पकड़ि पिटारे बांय।।११८६।।
Kabir says, illusion is like a poisonous snake that consumes the people. Meeting it is like meeting a venomous serpent; it seizes and devours you.
माया माथे सींगड़ा, लम्बे नौ नौ हाथ। आगे मारै सींगड़ा, पाछै मारै लात।।११९०।।
Illusion has horns on its head, nine hands long. It strikes with its horns in front and kicks from behind.
माया संख पदुम लौं, भक्ति बिहुन जो होय। जम लै ग्रासैं सो तेहि, नरक पड़े पुनि सोय।।११९७।।
Illusion is like a lotus flower, which lacks devotion. Those who are caught in its grasp end up in hell again and again.
कबीर माया डाकिनी, सब काह् को खाय। दांत उपारुं पापिनी, सन्तो नियरै जाय।।११९९।।
Kabir says, illusion is like a witch that consumes everyone. Its fangs are like sins, and it approaches even saints.
माया काल की खानि है, धरै त्रिगुण विपरीत। जहां जाय तहं सुख नहीं, या माया की रीति।।१२०१।।
Illusion is the abode of time, opposite to the three gunas (qualities). Wherever it goes, there is no happiness; such is the nature of illusion.
माया तरुवर त्रिविधका, शोक दुख संताप। शीतलता सुपनै नहीं, फल फीका तन ताप।।१२०६।।
Illusion is a tree with threefold sufferings: grief, sorrow, and pain. It does not offer coolness or sweet fruit; instead, it brings the heat of the body.
मोह सलिल की धार में, बहि गये गहिर गंभीर। सूक्ष्म मछली सुरति है, चढ़ती उल्टी नीर।।१२१८।।
In the current of the river of illusion, many have been carried away deeply. The subtle fish of awareness swims against the current of the water.
कुरुक्षेत्र सब मेदिनी, खेती करै किसान। मोह मिरग सब चरि गया, आसन रहि खलियान।।१२१९।।
Kurukshetra is a fertile land where farmers cultivate. The deer of illusion roam around, while the fields remain barren.
एक मोह के कारनै, भरत धरी दो देह। ते नर कैसे छूटिहैं, जिनके बहुत सनेह।।१२२०।।
Due to a single illusion, Bharat had to take two bodies. How can those who are deeply attached ever escape?
कामी क्रोधी लालची, इनते भक्ति न होय। भक्ति करै कोय सूरमा, जाति बरन कुल खोय।।१२२१।।
Desire, anger, and greed cannot lead to true devotion. Only a true hero who has abandoned caste, class, and family can practice true devotion.
काम क्रोध मद लोभी की, जब लग घट में खान। कबीर मूरख पंडिता, दोनो एक समान।।१२२३।।
When desire, anger, pride, and greed are present in the heart, the learned scholar and the fool are the same.
बुन्द खिरी नर नारि की, जैसी आतम घात। अज्ञानी मानै नहीं, येहि बात उत्पात।।१२२४।।
Just as a drop of oil affects the body, so does the harm of ignorance affect the soul. The ignorant do not recognize this fact.
तन मन लज्जा ना रहे, काम बान उर साल। एक काम सब वश किए, सुर नर मुनि बेहाल।।१२३२।।
When there is no shame in body and mind, desire binds the heart. Desire controls everyone, even gods, men, and sages are distressed by it.
कामी तो निरभय भया, करै न कहाूं संक। इन्द्री केरे बसि पड़ा, भूगते नरक निसंक।।१२३३।।
The desirous person becomes fearless and does not have any doubts. Controlled by the senses, he experiences hell without fear.
भक्ति बिगाड़ी कामिया, इन्द्रिन केरे स्वाद। हीरा खोया हाथ सों, जनम गंवाय बाद।।१२३५।।
Desire spoils devotion and indulges the senses. One who loses a gem from his hand wastes his life in the process.
कोटि करम लागे रहै, एक क्रोध की लार। किया कराया सब गया, जब आया हंकार।।१२३७।।
Millions of good deeds can be undone by a single droplet of anger. Everything that was done is lost when pride arrives.
गार अंगार क्रोध झल, निन्दा धूवां होय। इत तीनों को परिहरै, साधु कहावै सोय।।१२३८।।
Anger is like burning embers, and slander is like smoke. One who abandons these three is called a saint.
क्रोध अगनि घर घर बढ़ी, जलै सकल संसार। दीन लीन निज भक्त जो, तिनके निकट उबार।।१२३९।।
Anger is a fire that grows in every house, burning the entire world. Those who are devoted and humble find refuge close to them.
जगत मांहि धोखा घना, अहं क्रोध अरु काल। पौरि पहुंचा मारिये, ऐसा जम का जाल।।१२४१।।
The world is full of deception, with pride, anger, and time. The net of death catches those who reach the end.
दसौं दिसा में क्रोध की, उठी अपरबल आग। सीत संगत साध की, तहां उबरिये भाग।।१२४२।।
In all directions, the fire of anger burns intensely. One can escape this only by associating with a saint.
बहुत जतन करि कीजिये, सब फल जाय नसाय। कबीर संचै सूम धन, अन्त चोर ले जाय।।१२४३।।
No matter how much effort is put into accumulating wealth, it all ultimately gets stolen by the thief of time.
सूम थैली अरु श्वान भग, दोनों एक समान। घालत में सुख ऊपजै, काढ़त निकसै प्रान।।१२४६।।
A beggar’s bag and a dog are alike. Both give temporary comfort but eventually, they cause life to be at risk.
जहां आपा तहां आपदा, जहां संसै तहां सोग। कहैं कबीर कैसे मिटै, चारौं दीरघ रोग।।१२५२।।
Where there is ego, there is disaster; where there is doubt, there is sorrow. Kabir asks, how can one overcome these four long-lasting ailments?
बड़ी बड़ाई ऊंट की, लादे जहं लग सांस। मुहकम सलिता लादि के, ऊपर चढ़े परास।।१२७३।।
The pride of a camel is great, carrying burdens wherever it goes. With a heavy load of pride, it climbs over everything.
बड़ा हुआ तो क्या हुआ, जोरे बड़ मति नांहि। जैसे फूल उजाड़ का, मिथ्या हो झड़ जांहि।।१२७५।।
What is the use of being great if there is no wisdom? Like a flower that withers, greatness without wisdom is false.
मान दिया मन हरषिया, अपमाने तन छीन। कहैं कबीर तब जानिये, माया में लौ लीन।।१२७७।।
One may feel happy with pride, but shame will strip away the body. Kabir says, understand that such a person is lost in illusion.
निन्दक दूर न कीजिये, कीजै आदर मान। निर्मल तन मन सब करै, बके आन ही आन।।१२८१।।
Do not drive away the critic; respect and honor them. Keep the body and mind pure, and continue to honor them.
निन्दक तो है नाक बिन, निसदिन विष्ठा खाय। गुन छाड़े अवगुन गहै, तिसका यही सुभाय।।१२८२।।
A critic is like a leech; it feeds on waste every day. Abandon virtues and hold onto vices, such is the nature of the critic.
अड़सठ तीरथ निन्दक न्हाई, देह पलोसे मैल न जाई। छप्पन कोटि धरती फिरि आवै, तो भी निन्दक नरकहिं जावे।।१२८३।।
Even if a critic bathes at sixty-eight pilgrimage sites, the dirt of the body will not be removed. Even if they roam over millions of lands, they will still go to hell.
सातों सागर मैं फिरा, जम्बू दीप दै पीठ। पर निन्दा नाहीं करे, सो कोई बिरला दीठ।।१२८४।।
I have roamed across all seven seas and visited Jambudweep. It is rare to find someone who does not engage in criticism.
कंचन को तजबो सहल, सहल त्रिया को नेह। निन्दा केरो त्यागबो, बड़ा कठिन है येह।।१२८६।।
Renouncing gold is easy, and love for a woman is easy. But giving up criticism is very difficult.
जो कोई निन्दै साधु को, संकट आवै सोय। नरक जाये जन्मै मरै, मुक्ति कबहुं नहिं होय।।१२८७।।
One who criticizes the saint will face hardships. Such a person will go to hell, and liberation will never be attained.
कबीर निन्दक मरि गया, अब क्या कहिये जाय। ऐसा कोई नाम मिला, बीड़ा लेय उठाय।।१२९२।।
Kabir says, the critic is dead, what more can be said? Such a name is found that lifts the burden from one’s shoulders.
निन्दक एकहु मति मिलै, पापी मिलै हजार। इस निन्दक के शीश पर, लाख पाप का भार।।१२९३।।
A critic has one mind, but a thousand sinners are there. On the head of the critic, lies the burden of countless sins.
निन्दक से कुत्ता भला, हट कर माडै रार। कुत्ते से क्रोधी बुरा, गुरु दिलावै गार।।१२९४।।
A critic is better than a dog; remove the angry one. An angry person is worse than a dog and brings disgrace to the guru.
निन्दक तो है नाक बिन, सोहै नकटो माहिं। साधु जन गुरु भक्त जो, तिनमें सोहै नाहिं।।१२९५।।
A critic is like a leech without a nose; they are found in dirty places. They do not belong among saints, gurus, or devotees.
जौ तू सेवक गुरुन का, निन्दा की जब बान। निन्दक नेरे आय जब, कर आदर सनमान।।१२९७।।
If you are a servant of the guru and you are hit by the arrow of criticism, when the critic approaches, show respect and honor.
निन्दक नियरे राखिये, आंगन कुटी छवाय। बिन पानी साबुन बिना, निरमल करे सुभाय।।१२९९।।
Keep the critic near, as a small hut in the courtyard. Without water and soap, it remains clean in its own way.
कूकस कूटै कण बिना, बिन करनी का ज्ञान। ज्यौं बन्दूक गोली बिना, भड़क न मारै आन।।१३०२।।
A critic is like a drum without a stick; it makes noise but lacks knowledge. Similarly, a gun without bullets does not fire.
पद जौरै साखी कहै, साधन पड़ि गयी रोस। काढ़ा जल पीवै नहीं, काढ़ि पीवन की होस।।१३०४।।
The position and the story say that the practice has become difficult. One does not drink the water drawn out; how can one drink that which is drawn out?
कथनी काची होय गयी, करनी करी न सार। श्रोता वक्ता मरि गया, मूरख अनंत अपार।।१३०८।।
Words have become hollow, and actions lack essence. The speaker and the listener are both lost, endlessly ignorant.
कथनी के सूरे घने, थोथै बांधै तीर। बिरह बान जिनके लगा, तिनके बिकल सरीर।।१३१२।।
The arrows of hollow words bind the body with dense pain. Those who are struck by the arrows of separation, suffer greatly.
जैसी करनी जासु की, तैसी भुगते सोय। बिन सतगुरु की भक्ति के, जनम जनम दुख होय।।१३२३।।
One experiences the results according to their own actions. Without devotion to the true guru, one suffers throughout lifetimes.
मारग चलते जो गिरै, ताको नाहिं दोस। कहैं कबीर बैठा रहै, ता सिर करड़े कोस।।१३२८।।
One who falls while walking on the path is not to be blamed. Kabir says, sitting idly and not trying is like a head that takes a hundred blows.
कैसा भी सामर्थ्य हो, बिन उद्यम दुख पाय। निकट असन बिन कर चले, कैसे मुख में जाय।।१३२९।।
No matter how capable one is, without effort, one suffers. Without labor, how can food reach one's mouth?
दुख लेने जावै नहीं, आवै आचा बूच। सुख का पहरा होगया, दुख करेगा कूच।।१३३६।।
One does not need to seek sorrow; it comes naturally. When happiness prevails, sorrow will leave.
कबीर चंदन पर जला, तीतर बैठा मांहि। हम तो दाझत पंख बिन, तुम दाजत हो काहि।।१३४२।।
Kabir burns on sandalwood, while the peacock sits on it. How is it that we are scorched without wings, while you, with wings, are honored?
अकिल बिहूना सिंह ज्यों, गयों ससा के संग। अपनी प्रतिमा देखिके, कियो तन को भंग।।१३५३।।
Even a foolish lion, when it associates with rabbits, loses its pride. Seeing its own reflection, it destroys its body.
जप तप दीखै थोथरा, तीरथ ब्रत विश्वास। सूवा सेमल सेइया, यों जग चला निरास।।१३६५।।
Chanting and penance appear hollow, pilgrimages and vows are empty faith. Like a parrot sitting on a silk-cotton tree, the world moves on in disappointment.
पाहन केरी पूतरी, करि पूजै संसार। याहि भरोस मत रहो, बूड़ो काली धार।।१३७१।।
The world worships a doll made of stone, but don't rely on it, for it will drown you in the dark stream.
पढ़ा सुना सीखा सभी, मिटी न संसै भूल। कहैं कबीर कासों कहूं, यह सब दुख का मूल।।१३७४।।
Though I have read, heard, and learned everything, my doubts and delusions haven't vanished. Kabir says, whom should I tell, this is the root of all suffering.
दाता दाता चलि गये, रहि गये मक्खी चूस। दान मान समुझे नहीं, लड़ने को मजबूत।।१३८७।।
The generous givers have left, leaving behind the miserly who suck even the last drop. They understand neither charity nor honor, but are strong in conflict.
दया भाव हिरदै नहीं, ज्ञान कथै बेहद। ते नर नरकहि जाहिंगे, सुनि सुनि साखी शबद।।१३९१।।
Those who have no compassion in their hearts but talk endlessly about knowledge will end up in hell, despite hearing countless teachings.
दया धर्म का मूल है, पाप मूल संताप। जहां क्षमा तहां धर्म है, जहां दया तहां आप।।१३९५।।
Compassion is the root of righteousness, while sin leads to suffering. Where there is forgiveness, there is virtue; where there is compassion, there is God.
सांच कहै तो मारि हैं, यह तुरकानी जोर। बात कहूं सतलोक की, कर गहि पकड़े चोर।।१४१२।।
If one speaks the truth, they are punished; such is the strength of this oppression. When I speak of the higher truth, I am seized as a thief.
सांच कहूं तो मारि हैं, झूठे जग पतियाय। यह जग काली कूतरी, जो छेड़े तो खाय।।१४२०।।
If I speak the truth, I am punished; falsehood is accepted in this world. This world is like a black bitch; whoever provokes it will suffer.
कबीर केसौ की दया, संसा घाल्या खोहि। जे दिन गए भगति बिन, ते दिन साले मोहि।।१४३४।।
Kabir’s kindness is such that doubts are erased. The days spent without devotion are those days of sorrow.
कबीर सिरजनहार बिन, मेरा हितू न कोइ। गुण औगुण बिहड़ै नहीं, स्वारथ बंधी लोइ।।१४३७।।
Kabir says that without the Creator, there is no one who benefits me. Virtue and vice are not separate; all is bound by self-interest.
आगि जु लागि समुद्र में, धुंआ प्रगट न होय। सो जाने जो जरि मुआ, जाकी लाई होय।।१४४५।।
When fire is burning in the ocean, smoke does not appear. Only the one who is burned understands the nature of its cause.
आगि जो लागि समुद्र महं, जरे जौ कांदो झारि। पूर्व पछिम के पंडिता, मुए विचारि विचारि।।१४४७।।
When fire burns in the ocean, it consumes everything like a burning ember. Scholars of the east and west ponder and die contemplating it.
कनक कामिनी देखिके, तू मत भूल कुरंग। मिलन बिछुरन दुहेलरा, जस केंचुलि तजे भुजंग।।१४६९।।
Seeing gold and women, do not be deceived like the deer. Union and separation are painful, just like a snake shedding its skin.
कबीर का घर शिखर पर, जहां सिलहली गैल। पांव न टिके पिपिलि का, तहां खलकोन लादा बैल।।१४७०।।
Kabir's home is at the peak, where the path is slippery. Even an ant cannot stand firm there, how can the wicked load a bull?
कलि खोटा जग आंधरा, शब्द न माने कोय। जाहि कहौं हित आपना, सौ उठि बैरी होय।।१४७६।।
In this age of darkness, the world is corrupt, and no one listens to the words of wisdom. When I try to guide others, they become my enemies.
काहे हरिणी दुर्बली, चरे हरियरे ताल। लक्ष्य अहेरी एक मृग, केतिक टारे भाल।।१४८४।।
Why is the deer so weak, even though it grazes on green grass? The hunter targets one, but how long can the arrow be avoided?
केला तबहि न चेतिया, जब ढिग लागा बेर। अब के चेते क्या भया, जब कांटेनि लिन्हा घेर।।१४८६।।
You did not realize when the thorn bush was nearby, and now what is the use of realization after being surrounded by thorns?
गही टेग नहिं छोड़ई, चोंच जीभ जरि जाय। ऐसे तप्त अंगार है, ताहि चकोर चबाय।।१४८९।।
The bird does not let go of the iron, even if its beak and tongue burn. Just like that, the partridge eats burning embers.
गुरु की भेली जिब डरे, काया सिचनिहार। कुमति कमाई मन बसे, लागु जुबाकी लार।।१४९२।।
The disciple fears the sweetness of the Guru's teachings, which are meant to nourish the body. However, the mind is filled with wrong thoughts and the mouth waters for worldly pleasures.
गृह तज के भये उदासी, वन खंड तप के जाय। चोली थाके मारिया, बेरई चुनि चुनि खाय।।१४९६।।
After abandoning the household, one becomes a recluse and goes to the forest for penance. Despite all efforts, they are left with nothing but picking wild fruits.
चंदन सर्प लपेटिया, चंदन काह कराया। राम-राम विष भीनिया, अमृत कहां समाय।।१५०२।।
The sandalwood tree is entwined by a snake, rendering its fragrance useless. Even the name of Ram is tainted with poison, how can nectar remain?
चलते-चलते पगु थका, नगर रहा नव कोस। बीचहिं में डेरा पड़ा, कहो कवन का दोस।।१५०५।।
After walking a long distance, the feet grow tired, and the city is still nine miles away. Resting in the middle, tell me, whose fault is it?
चार मास घन वर्षिया, अति अपूर जल नीर। पेन्हे चढ़त न बखतरी, चुभे न एको तीर।।१५०७।।
For four months the clouds rained, but not a single drop of water quenched the thirst. The armor didn’t rise, nor did an arrow pierce.
चौगोड़ा के देखते, व्याधा भागो जाय। अचरज एक देखहु हो संतो, मुवा कालहि खाय।।१५०८।।
The hunter runs away at the sight of the four-sided drum. Oh saints, see this wonder, that death eats the dead.
जहर जिमीदे रोपिया, अमि सींचे सत बार। कबीर खलक नाहीं तजे, जामहं जौन बिचार।।१५१५।।
If you sow poison and water it with nectar a hundred times, Kabir says, it won’t yield good results; the world won’t abandon its wrong ways.
जहिया जन्म मुक्ता हता, तहिया हता न कोय। छठी तुम्हारी हौं जगा, तू कह चला वियोग।।१५१७।।
When you were born free, there was no separation. On your sixth day, I awakened, but now you speak of separation.
जासों दिल नहि मिलिया, शब्द बेधा अंग। कहहिं कबीर पुकारि के, हंस बके का अंग।।१५२४।।
When hearts do not unite, words pierce like arrows. Kabir calls out, how can a swan and a crane be the same?
जिनि जिनि शंबल नहि किया, ऐसा पुर पठ (त्त) न पाय। झालि परे दिन आथये, शंबल कियो न जाय।।१५२६।।
Those who did not make preparations, such people will not find a safe place. When the days of crisis arrive, it’s too late to take shelter.
जीव मरण जानै नहीं, अन्धा भया सब जाय। वादी द्वारे दार नहिं पावै, जन्म जन्म पछिताय।।१५३१।।
The living do not understand death, they become blind and perish. The orator cannot reach the door, and thus regrets life after life.
जेहि मारग सनकादि, गयो ब्रह्मा विष्णु महेश। कहहिं कबीर सो मारग थाकिया, मैं काहि कहैं उपदेश।।१५३४।।
The path taken by Sanaka and other sages is followed by Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. Kabir says that path is exhausted; what can I teach?
जो घर रहे सर्प का, ता घर साधु न होय। सकल संपदा ले गया, विषहर लागे सोय।।१५४०।।
A house where a serpent resides cannot be a place of the pious. All its wealth is taken away, and it is infested with poison.
तीनि लोक भो पींजरा, पाप पुण्य भो जाल। सकल जियरा सावज भया, एक अहेरी काल।।१५६०।।
The three worlds are a cage, sin and virtue are traps. All souls are trapped, and time is the hunter.
देश विदेश हम फिरे, ई मन भरा सुकाल। जाके ढूंढ़त मैं फिरौं, ताके परा दुकाल।।१५६७।।
We roam through lands both near and far, yet this mind remains filled with ease. I search for that which brings real distress.
धौं की डाही लाकरी, ओभी करे पुकार। अब जो जाय लोहार घर, डाढे दूजी बार।।१५७१।।
The broken piece of wood also cries out. Now if one goes to a blacksmith's house, it is beaten again and again.
नव मन दुग्ध बटोरिके, टिपके भया विनास। दूध फाटि कांजी भया, हुआ घृतहु को नास।।१५७५।।
New milk gathered, but it turns to ruin. The milk turned sour and curdled, leading to the destruction of even ghee.
नष्टा का राज है, नफरत का वरते तेज। सार शब्द टकसार है, हृदये मांहि विवेक।।१५७६।।
The rule of loss is in place, and the force of hatred prevails. The essence of the word is in discerning the wisdom in the heart.
पांवहिं पहुमी नापते, दरिया करते फाल। हाथन्हि पर्वत तोलते, तेहि धरि खायो काल।।१५८८।।
Measuring the earth with feet, and making waves in the river. Balancing mountains with hands, and yet death consumes it all.
प्रथम एक जो हीं किया, भया सो बारह बान। कसत कसौटी ना टिका, पीतर भया निदान।।१६००।।
What was done first as one became twelve arrows. It could not withstand the test; the yellow metal became the solution.
बनते भागा बिहुड़े परा, करहा अपने बाने। करहा बेदन कासों कहे, को करहा को जाने।।१६०४।।
Fortune and misfortune are created, but their actions are different. One might speak of pain, but who knows whose actions are whose?
बहुत दिवस तें हींडिया, शून्य समाधि लगाय। करहा पड़ा गाड़ में, दूरि परे पछिताय।।१६०९।।
For many days, one may sit in a state of zero meditation, but in the end, they regret being lost in delusion.
बांह मरोरे जात है, सोबत लिया जगाय। कहहिं कबीर एकारि कै, पिण्ड रहौ कै जाय।।१६११।।
One twists their arms, but it remains in vain. Kabir says that life continues in this manner; the body remains as it is.
विष के बिखहिं घर किये, रहा सर्प लपटाय। तातें जियरहिं डर भया, जागत रैन विहाय।।१६१५।।
In the house filled with poison, the serpent remains coiled. Hence, the soul remains fearful, wandering the nights.
बेरा बांधिनि सर्प का, भव सागर अतिमाह। छोड़े तो बूड नहीं, गहे तो डसे बांह।।१६१८।।
The rope is tied by the serpent; the ocean of existence is immense. If you leave it, you will drown; if you hold it, it will bite your arm.
बेलि कुढंगी फल निफरो, फुलवा कुबुधि गंधाय। ओर विनष्टी तुंबिका, सरो पात करुवाय।।१६१९।।
The creeper produces no fruit; the flower has a bad smell. In this manner, the tender plant withers; the pond dries up.
भंवर विलंबे बाग में, बहु फूलन की बास। ऐसे जिव बिलमे विषय में, अन्तहु चले निरास।।१६२४।।
The whirlpool is delayed in the garden, filled with the scent of many flowers. Similarly, the soul lost in desire eventually becomes disillusioned.
मन कहे कहौं जाइये, चित्त कहो कहां जाउं। छव मास के हींडते, आध कोस पर गांउ।।१६२९।।
The mind says go here, the heart says where should I go? After wandering for six months, one still finds oneself in the same place.
मन भर के बोय घुंघची, भर नहिं होय। कहा हमारे माने नहीं, अन्तहु चला विगोय।।१६३२।।
The mind fills with bellows, yet it does not get full. Our desires are insatiable, they eventually lead to loss.
माया जग सापिनि भई, विष ले बैठी आथि। सब जग फंदे फन्दिया, चले कबीरू काछि।।१६४०।।
Illusion has become a snake in the world, sitting with poison. The whole world is caught in its trap, says Kabir.
माग तो अति कठिन है, तहं कोई मति जाय। गया तो बहुरा नहीं, कुशल कहै को आय।।१६४१।।
The quest is very difficult, and few have the understanding to succeed. Once gone, one cannot return; who can say if one has succeeded?
मूढ कर्मिया मानवा नख, शिख पाखर आहि। वाहनहारा का करे, जो बाण न लागे ताहि।।१६४३।।
Foolish human actions are like the claws and feathers of a bird. What can the rider do if the arrow does not hit?
मूरख को समुझावते, ज्ञान गांठ का जाइ। कोयला होइ न ऊजरो, नव मन साबुन लाइ।।१६४४।।
One who tries to explain to a fool, knowledge gets tied up. Coal does not get cleaned; new soap is needed for the mind.
मूरख सों का कहिए, सठ सों कहा बसाय। पाहन में का मारिये, चोखे तीर नसाय।।१६४५।।
What can be said to a fool, and what can be done to a scoundrel? Hitting a stone does not remove the arrow's mark.
मूवा हे मरिं जाहुगे, बिनु सर थोथे भाल। परहु करायल वृक्ष तल, आज मरहु के काल।।१६४६।।
The dead will die, without the head's support. Under the tree of misfortune, today is the time of death.
मैं रोवों ऐहि जगत को, मोको रोवे न कोय। मोको रोवे सो जना, जो शब्द विवेकी होय।।१६४७।।
I cry for this world, but no one cries for me. Only those who are wise in words can truly understand my sorrow.
मानुष विचारा क्या करे, जाके कहे न खुले कपाट। सोनहा चाक बैठाइए, फिरि फिरि एषन चाट।।१६४८।।
What can a foolish human do, whose doors are not open? Set up a golden plate, but still keep licking it repeatedly.
रतन लराइन रेत में, कंकर चुनि चुनि खाय। कहहिं कबीर पुकारिके, बहुरि चले पछिताय।।१६६२।।
Jewels are scattered in the sand, picking stones to eat. Kabir says, after calling, one would regret again.
राम वियोगी विकल तन, इन दुखवै मति कोय। छूबत ही मरि जाहिंगे, तालाबेली होय।।१६६६।।
The body of one separated from Ram is restless, no one understands this sorrow. When touched, they die, like a dry leaf in a pond.
लाहा केरी नावरी, पाहन गरुवा भार। सिर पर विष की पोटरी, उतरन चाहे पार।।१६७१।।
The burden of iron is heavy, and the stone weighs down. The pot of poison on the head desires to cross over.
विरह की ओदी लाकरी, सपचे औ धुंधवाय। दुख ते तब ही बांचिहो, जब सकलो जरि जाय।।१६७२।।
The wood of separation is burning, causing true pain and confusion. One will only be freed from suffering when everything is burned away.
सांप बिछी का मंत्र है, महुरो झारा जाय। सलिल मोह नदिया बहै, पांव कहां ठहराय।।१६९५।।
The mantra of the snake and scorpion has gone away; the flowing river of delusion continues, where can the feet find rest?
साहू से भी चोरबा, चोरहु से भौ होत। तब जानिहुगे जीयरा, जबहिं परेगा तुज्झ।।१६९९।।
Even worse than the merchant is the thief, who creates fear from the thief. You will understand your own self when you face it directly.
हाथ कटोरा खोवा भरा, मग जोवत दिन जाय। कबिरा उता चित्त सों, छांछ दियो नहिं जाय।।१७१५।।
With a bowl and a pot full of offerings, the day passes by. Kabir says, even with a full mind, buttermilk does not come.
हीरा सोई सराहिये, सहे जो धन का चोट। कपट कुरंगी मानवा, परखत निकला खोट।।१७१८।।
The diamond is praised for enduring the blow of wealth. The deceitful human, when examined, reveals flaws.
कबीर मूंडठ करमियां, नष सिष पाषर ज्यांह। बांहणहारा क्या करै, बांण न लागै त्यांह।।१७२४।।
Kabir says, the actions of the wicked destroy the essence of the stone. What can the archer do when the arrow does not hit the mark?
जालौं इहै बड़पणां, सरलै पेड़ि खजूरि। पंखी छांह न बीसवै, फल लागे ते दूरि।।१७२९।।
This is the arrogance of the date palm tree. The bird does not sit in its shade, the fruit is far away.
कबीर सूम थैली अरु श्वान भग, दोनों एक समान। घालत में सुख ऊपजै, काढ़त निकसै प्रान।।१७३४।।
Kabir says, the pot of wealth and the running dog are the same. In handling, joy arises, but in removing, life is lost.
रात्यूं रूंनी बिरहनीं, ज्यूं बंची कूं कुंज। कबीर अंतर प्रजल्या, प्रगट्या बिरहा पुंज।।१७३६।।
The night is spent in separation, like a deer in a thicket. Kabir says, within the soul is a burning flame, and separation manifests as a bundle of pain.
अंबर कुंजा करलियां, गरजि भर सब ताल। जिनि थैं गोबिंद बीछुटे, तिनके कौण हवाल।।१७३७।।
The sky roars with thunder, filling all the valleys. For those separated from Govind, who can offer solace?
चकवी बिछुटी रैणि की, आइ मिली परभाति। जे जन बिछुटे राम सूं, नां सुख धूप न छांह।।१७३८।।
The nightingale, separated from its mate, finds the morning. Those who are separated from Ram, neither find happiness in sunlight nor shade.
बासुरि सुख नां रैणि सुख, ना सुख सुपिनै मांहि। कबीर बिछुट्या राम सूं , नां सुख धूप न छांह।।१७३९।।
The flute does not bring happiness, nor does the night. Neither does sleep provide joy. Kabir says, those separated from Ram, neither find pleasure in sunlight nor shade.
बिरहनि ऊभी पंथ सिरि, पंथी बूझे धाइ। एक सबद कहि पीव का, कब रे मिलैंगे आइ।।१७४०।।
The separation causes pain, the traveler understands and runs on the path. Speaking one word to the beloved, when will we meet again?
बहुत दिनन की जोवती, बाट तुम्हारी राम। जिव तरसै तुझ मिलन कूं, मनि नाहीं विश्राम।।१७४१।।
For many days the journey is long, the path is yours, Ram. The soul yearns to meet you, the heart finds no rest.
आइ न सकौं तुझ पैं, सकूं न तूझ बुलाइ। जियरा यौही लेहुगे, बिरह तपाइ तपाइ।।१७४५।।
I cannot come to you, nor can you call me. The heart is burning with separation, continuously burning.
यहु तन जालौं मसि करूं, ज्यूं धूवां जाइ सरग्गि। मति वै राम दया करै, बरसि बुझावै अग्गि।।१७४६।।
Let this body be burnt like ink, as smoke rises to heaven. The mind, however, needs Ram's grace to extinguish the fire within.
कबीर पीर पिरावनी, पंजर पीड़ न जाइ। एक जू पीड़ पिरीति की, रही कलेजा छाइ।।१७४८।।
Kabir says, the agony of love remains in the heart, even though the external pain may go away. The heart is constantly overwhelmed by the pain of separation.
चोट सतांणी बिरह की, सब तन जरजर होइ। मारणहारा जांणिहै, कै जिहिं लागी सोइ।।१७४९।।
The wounds of separation cause enduring pain, making the whole body frail. Only the one who inflicts this pain understands its true nature.
जबहूं मारयया खैंचि करि, तब मैं पाई जांण। लागी चोट मरम्म की, गई कलेजा छांणि।।१७५१।।
When the mind is drawn to the divine, only then do I gain knowledge. The pain inflicted is deep, tearing apart the heart.
बिरह भुवंगम तन बसै, मंत्र न लागै कोइ। राम वियोगी ना जिवै, जिवै त बौरा होइ।।१७५३।।
The body is consumed by the sting of separation; no mantra can help. The one separated from Ram does not live, they live only as a mad person.
बिरह भुंवगम पैसि करि, किया कलेजै घाव। साधू अंग न मोड़ही, ज्यूं भावै त्यूं खाव।।१७५४।।
The sting of separation creates wounds in the heart. A true saint does not bend or break, they accept whatever comes their way.
सब रग तंत रबाब तन, बिरह बजावै नित्त। और न कोई सुणि सकै, कै साई कै चित्त।।१७५५।।
Every vein and fiber of the body plays the tune of separation. No one else can hear it; it is only for the Lord’s own mind.
बिरहा बिरहा जिनि कहौ, बिरहा है सुलितान। जिह घटि बिरह न संचरै, सो घट सदा मसान।।१७५६।।
One who speaks of separation, speaks of it as a sovereign. The body in which separation does not reside is always a cremation ground.
अंषड़यिां झाई पडो, पंथ निहारि निहारि। जीभड़ियां छाला पड्या, राम पुकारि पुकारि।।१७५७।।
The path is full of thorns, and as I look at it again and again, my tongue is blistered. I keep calling out to Ram.
अंषडियां प्रेम कसाइयां, लोग जांणे दुखड़ियां। सांई अपणैं कारणैं, रोइ रोइ रतड़ियां।।१७६०।।
The pure love of a lover is known to be painful; people recognize this suffering. But Sai, for His own reasons, causes me to cry endlessly.
सोई आंसू सजणां, सोई लोक बिड़ाहि। जे लोइण लोही चुवै, तौ जांणों हेत हियांहि।।१७६१।।
The same tears are for a lover and the same tears for the world's sorrow. If someone tastes the true essence, they know the love within.
जौ रोऊं तो बल घटै, हंसौं तौ राम रिसाइ। मनही मांहि बिसूरणां, ज्यूं घुंण काठहि खाइ।।१७६३।।
If I cry, my strength diminishes; if I laugh, Ram becomes displeased. My mind is tormented internally, like a piece of wood being eaten by termites.
डारी खांड पटकि करि, अंतरि रोस उपाइ। रोवत रोवत मिलि गया, पिता पियारे जाइ।।१७६७।।
In anger, one breaks the sugar and cloth; in the heart, anger finds its way. By weeping and weeping, one meets the beloved father.
कबीर देखत दिन गया, निस भी देखत जाइ। बिरहणि पिव पावै नहीं, जियरा तलपैं माइ।।१७६९।।
Kabir sees the day go by, and the night also passes. The longing of separation does not end, the heart keeps burning.
कै बिरहिन कूं मींच दे, कै आपा दिखलाइ। आठ पहर का दाझणां, मोपै सहया न जाइ।।१७७०।।
To the beloved in separation, one shows their own ego. The burning of eight hours is unbearable for me.
बिरहणि थी तौ क्यूं रही, जली न पीव के नालि। रहु रहु मुगध गहेलड़ी, प्रेम न लाजूं मारि।।१७७१।।
Why did the separation persist if it was there? It did not burn with the beloved. I remain bewildered, enduring the pain of love, which does not let shame die.
हौं बिरहा की लाकड़ी, समझि समझि धूंधाउं। छूटि पड़ौं यों बिरह तैं, जे सारीही जलि जाउं।।१७७२।।
I am like a log of separation, searching for understanding. I would be free from this separation if I could burn completely.
कबीर तन मन यौं जल्या, बिरह अगनि सूं लागि। मृतक पीड़ न जांणई, जांणेगी यहु आगि।।१७७३।।
Kabir says that the body and mind are burned by the fire of separation. The pain of the dead is not known; only this fire is understood.
बिरह जलाई मैं जलौं, जलती जल हरि जाउं। मो देख्यां जलहरि जलै, संतौं कहां बुझाउं।।१७७४।।
I am burned by the fire of separation, and it burns continuously. Seeing me burn, where will the saints find solace?
परबति परबति मैं फिरया, नैंन गंवाये रोइ। सो बूटी पाऊं नहीं, जातैं जीवनि होइ।।१७७५।।
I wandered from mountain to mountain, weeping and losing my eyes. I cannot find that herb, which would make my life complete.
नैन हमारे जलि गये, छिन छिन लोड़ैं तुझ। नां तूं मिलै न मैं खुसी, ऐसी वेदन मुझ।।१७७७।।
My eyes are burning, every moment longing for you. I find no joy in meeting you, such is my pain.
वेड़ा पाया सरप का, भौसागर के मांह। जै छाडों तो डूबिहौं, गहौं त डसिये बांह।।१७७८।।
I have gained a snake's venom in the ocean of the world. If I leave it, I will drown; if I hold on, it will bite me.
रैणा दूर बिछोहिया, रहु र संषम झुरि। देवलि दवलि धाहड़ी, देसी ऊगे सूरि।।१७७९।।
The night of separation is far, and I remain enduring the hardship. The temple is burning, and the local sun rises.
सुखिया सब संसार है, खयै अरु सोवै। दुखिया दास कबीर है, जागै अरु रोवै।।१७८०।।
The entire world is happy, eating and sleeping. The unfortunate servant Kabir is awake and weeping.
कौतिग दीठा देह बिन, रवि ससि बिना उजास। साहिब सेवा मांहि है, बेपरवाही दास।।१७८२।।
The grandeur of the body without the light of the sun and moon is like a body without radiance. The true service is in the devotion to the Master, which the careless servant understands.
चौहटे चिंतामंणि चढ़ी, हाडी मारत हाथि। मीरां मुझसूं मिहर करि, इब मिलौं न काहू साथि।।१७९८।।
The small gem of worry has risen, and the hand strikes the pot. Miran, be merciful to me; now I do not find anyone with me.
कबीर सुख कौं जाइ था, आग आया दुख। जाहु सुख घरि आपणैं, हम जाणौं अरु दुख।।१८३३।।
Kabir, where is happiness? Fire has come as sorrow. If happiness is at home, then we know it, and so is sorrow.
आसा एक जू राम की, दूजी आस निरास। पांणी माहैं घर करें, ते भी मरैं पियास।।१८३८।।
One hope is in Ram, the other is despair. Even if water is gathered in the house, thirst remains unquenched.
कबीर कलि जुग आइ करि, कीये बहुतज मांत। जिन दिल बंधी एक सूं, ते सुख सोवै नवींत।।१८४०।।
In the age of Kali, many have become vain. Those whose hearts are bound to the One, find fresh joy.
कबीर करत है बीनती, भौसागर के तांई। बंदे ऊपरि जोर होत है, जंम कूं बारिज गुसाई।।१८६०।।
Kabir pleads to the Lord, for the ocean of life is vast. The burden on the soul is great, and rebirths are countless.
कबीर करणी क्या करै, जे राम न करै सहाइ। जिहि जिहि डाली पग धरै, सोई नवि नवि जाइ।।१९०४।।
Kabir says, what can deeds accomplish if the Lord does not assist? Whichever branch you step on, it bends and breaks.
जदि का माइ जनमियां, कहूं न पाया सुख। डाली डाली मैं फिरौं, पातौं पातौं दुख।।१९०५।।
If in my birth I did not attain happiness, I wander from branch to branch, finding sorrow everywhere.
षूंणै पड्या न छुटियो, सुणि रे जीव अबूझ। कबीर मरि मैदान मैं, करि इंद्रया सूं झूझ।।१९०८।।
The deaf will not escape from the truth, listen, O soul. Kabir says, even in death, struggle with the senses.
कबीर साई सूरिवां, मन सूं मांडे झूझ। पंच पयादा पाड़ि ले, दूरि करै सब दूज।।१९०९।।
Kabir says, one who is devoted to the Lord, fights with the mind. Removing the five enemies, one can be free from all others.
सूरा झूझै गिरद सूं, इक दिसि सूर न होइ। कबीर यौं बिन सूरिवां, भला न कहिसी कोइ।।१९१०।।
A hero struggles with a lion, but on one side, he cannot overcome the lion. Kabir says, without a true guide, no one is truly good.
कबीर मेरे संसा को नहीं, हरि सूं लागा हेत। काम क्रोध सूं झूझणां, चौड़े मांडूया खेत।।१९१२।।
Kabir says, my doubt is not with the Lord, but with the desire and anger. The broad field is fought over by these forces.
कायर बहुत पमांवहीं, बहकि न बोलैं सूर। काम पड्यांं ही जांणिहै, किसके मुख परि नूर।।१९१९।।
The coward is very pompous but does not speak the truth. When the need arises, it becomes clear whose face shines with grace.
जाइ पूछौ उस घाइलै, दिवस पीड निस जाग। बांहणहारा जणि है, कै जांणै जिस लाग।।१९२०।।
Go and ask the wounded one, he remains awake in the pain of the day and night. The one who bears the pain knows best what it feels like.
घाइल घूंमे गहि भरया, राख्या रहै न ओट। जतन कियां जीवै नहीं, बणीं मरम की चोट।।१९२१।।
The wounded one moves around, but remains uncovered. The efforts made are of no use; the wound is a deep one.
हौं तोहि पूछौं हे सखी, जीवत क्यूं न मराइ। मूंवा पीछे सत करै, जीवत क्यूं न कराइ।।१९२९।।
I ask you, my friend, why does one not die while living? The dead can be rectified after death, but why is it not rectified while living?
मारया है जो मरैगा, बिर सर थोथी भालि। पड्या पुकारै ब्रिछ तरि, आजि मरै कै काल्हि।।१९४२।।
One who is killed is of no value; the wise one knows this. The tree that is struck, still calls out to be saved, whether it dies today or tomorrow.
गुर दाघा चेला जल्या, बिरहा लागी आगि। तिणका बपुड़ा ऊबरया, गलि पूरे कै लागि।।१९४७।।
The disciple has been burned by the Guru, and the fire of separation is intense. The little fellow has survived, but only to complete his task.
आहेड़ी दौं लाइया, मृग पुकारै रोइ। जा बन में क्रीला करी, दाझत है बन सोइ।।१९४८।।
The deer is crying out and calling in the forest. When the fire rages in the forest, it burns everything within it.
कबीर मन तीषा किया, बिरह लाइ परषांन। चित चरणूं मैं चभि रह्या, तहां नहीं काल का पाण।।१९६१।।
Kabir made his mind a razor, troubled by the pain of separation. His heart remained fixed on the feet, where time’s hand does not reach.
ऐसा कोई ना मिले, हम कौं दे उपदेस। भौसागर मैं डूबता, कर गहि काढ़े केस।।१९६४।।
No one is found to give us advice. While we are drowning in the ocean of worldly existence, who will grasp our hair and pull us out?
ऐसा कोई न मिले, हम कौं लेइ पिछानि। अपना करि किरपा करे, ले उतारे मैदानि।।१९६५।।
No one is found to lift us up and rescue us. Only by showing mercy to ourselves, we can be saved from the field of strife.
माया मिले महोबंती, कूड़े आखे बैन। कोई घायल बेध्या ना मिलै, साई हंदा सैण।।१९७२।।
Maya (illusion) gives great pleasure, but it is like the sound of trash. No healer or savior is found to cure the wounded, only the blind and helpless ones.
सारा सूरा बहु मिलैं, घाइल मिले न कोइ। घाइल ही घाइल मिले, तब राम भगति दिढ़ होइ।।१९७३।।
Many are found with wine, but no one is found with wounds. Only the wounded find the way to Ram's devotion.
कबीर यहु जग अंधला, जैसी अंधी गाइ। बछा था सो मरि गया, ऊभी चांम चटाइ।।१९७९।।
Kabir says, this world is blind, just like a blind cow. The calf was born but has died, and the skin is left behind.
अणरता सुका सीवणां, रातै नींद न आइ। ज्यूं जल टूटै मंछली, यूं बेलंत बिहाइ।।१९९२।।
The thirst of the soul is like a dried-up river, it does not find sleep at night. Just as a fish out of water flounders, so does the soul in its longing.
जिहि घटि जांण बिनांण है, तिहि घटि आबटणां घणां। बिन षडै संग्राम है, नित उठि मन सौं झूझुणां।।१९९५।।
In a place where there is no knowledge, there is much suffering. Without the six stages of conflict, the mind rises and struggles daily.
राम वियोगी तन बिकल, ताहि न चीन्है कोइ। तंबोली के पान ज्यूं, दिन दिन पीला होइ।।१९९६।।
The body of the one separated from Ram is in distress, but no one recognizes this. Just like the betel leaf turns yellow day by day, so does the body of such a person.
हम भी पाहन पूजते, होते रन के रोझ। सतगुर की कृपा भई, डारया सिर के बोझ।।२०२४।।
We also worship stones, but it is like facing the battlefield. By the grace of the True Guru, the burden on the head is removed.
परनारी राता फिरै, चोरी विढता खांहिं। दिवस चारि सरसा रहै, अंति समूला जांहिं।।२०३९।।
A woman who roams around with someone else's affection appears sweet for a few days, but ultimately, she ends up in ruin.
पर नारी पर सुंदरी, बिरला बंच कोइ। खातां मीठी खांड सी, अंति कालि विष होइ।।२०४०।।
Among women, a beautiful one is rare. She may appear sweet like sugar, but in the end, she turns into poison.
नारी सेती नेह, बुधि विवेक सबही डरै। कांइ गमावै देह, कारिज कोई नां सरे।।२०४४।।
Attachment to a woman causes fear in wisdom and intellect. Such attachment leads to the loss of one’s body and does not accomplish any purpose.
एक कनक अरु कांमनी, विष फल कीए उपाइ। देखै ही थै विष चढ़ै, खांयै सूं मरि जाइ।।२०४६।।
One gold and one woman, both are like poison fruits. Just seeing them can cause harm, consuming them leads to death.
कबीर भग की प्रीतड़ी, केते गए गडंत। केते अजहूं जायसी, नरकि हसंत हसंत।।२०४८।।
Kabir, the love for God is precious, many have lost their count. Many are still going, laughing, straight to hell.
नारी कुंड नरक का, बिरला चंभै बाग। कोई साधू जन ऊबरै, सब जग मूंवा लाग।।२०५०।।
A woman is like the pit of hell, only a rare one escapes. A saint may rise above, but the world is entrapped and dying.
सुंदरि से सूली भली, बिरला बंच कोय। लोह निहाला अगनि मैं, जलि बलि कोइला होय।।२०५१।।
Better the gallows than beauty, rare is the one who escapes. Iron, once placed in fire, burns and turns to ashes.
भगति बिगाड़ी कांमियां, इंद्री के रे स्वादि। हीरा खोया हाथ से, जनम गंवाया बादि।।२०५२।।
Devotion ruined by desires, for the taste of senses. The diamond was lost from the hand, the life wasted in vain.
विषै कर्म की कंचुली, पहरि हुआ नर नाग। सिर फोड सूझै नहीं, को आगिला अभाग।।२०५५।।
Wearing the skin of worldly deeds, the man became a serpent. Even after smashing his head, he sees no way out, his misfortune prevails.
नारि पराई आपणीं, भुगत्या नरकहि जाइ। आगि आगि सब एक है, तामैं हाथ न बाहि।।२०५८।।
Seeing another's wife as one's own leads to hell. Fire is fire, whether near or far, don't put your hand in it.
ग्यांनी मूल गंवाइया, आपण भये करंता। ताथै संसारी भला, मन मैं रहै डरंता।।२०६१।।
The wise lose their root, becoming proud of their knowledge. Better is the worldly man who lives in fear within his mind.
इसी उदर कै कारणै, जग जांच्यौ निस जाम। स्वामीं पणो जु सिर चढ्यो, सरया न एकौ काम।।२०६३।।
For the sake of this belly, the world searches day and night. The burden of duty on the head, yet not a single task is fulfilled.
कलि का स्वामीं लोभिया, पीतलि धरी षटाइ। राज दुबारां यों फिरै, ज्यूं हरिहाई गाइ।।२०६७।।
The master of Kali Yuga is greedy, hiding brass under gold. He wanders in the royal court, like a cow tied in a circle.
कलि का स्वामीं लोभिया, मनसा धरी बधाइ। दैंहि पईसा ब्याज कों, लेखां करतां जाइ।।२०६८।।
The master of Kali Yuga is greedy, with increasing desires. He lends money with interest, always calculating his gains.
पाड़ोसी सू रूसणां, तिल तिल सुख को हांणि। पंडित भए सरावगी, पांणी पीवें छांणि।।२०७२।।
Quarreling with neighbors, bit by bit, happiness is lost. Scholars have become hypocrites, drinking only filtered water.
रासि पराई राषतां, खाया घर का खेत। औरां कौं प्रमोधतां, मुख मैं पड़िया रेत।।२०७४।।
Coveting others' wealth, you eat up your own fields. Misleading others, you fill your mouth with sand.
देषण के सबको भले, जिसे सीत के कोट। रवि कै उदै न दीसहीं, बंधै न जल की पोट।।२०७६।।
Even the best covering is useless, if it traps cold inside. When the sun rises, it does not appear, and water cannot be bound.
गगन दमामा बाजिया, हनहनिया के कान। शूरां घिरां बधावना, कायर तजिहैं प्रान।।२०८२।।
The war drums sound in the sky, alarming the ears. Brave ones rejoice in the call to battle, while cowards flee and lose their lives.
घायल की गति और है, औरन की गति और। लागा बान जो प्रेम का, रहा कबीरा ठौर।।२०८३।।
The condition of the wounded is different, different is the condition of others. Kabir remains steady, struck by the arrow of love.
ऊंचा तरुवर गगनफल, पक्षी मुआ बिसूर। अनेक सयाना पचि गया, फल निर्मल पर दूर।।२०८४।।
The tall tree bears fruits high in the sky, and birds lament as they die in their pursuit. Many wise ones have perished, unable to reach the distant, pure fruit.
भाव भलका सुरति शर, धर धीरज करतान। मनकी मूठी जहां लगि, चोट तहांहीं जान।।२०९६।।
The essence of virtue is like a sharp arrow; it requires patience to bear. Wherever the mind's grasp is applied, the injury is felt there.
शूरा सन्मुख बाहता, कोई न बांधे धीर। पर दल मोरन रन अटल, ऐसा दास कबीर।।२१०६।।
A brave man remains unmoved before his enemy, and no one can bind his courage. But in the battlefield of life, Kabir says, such steadfastness is rare.
शूर सनाह न पहरई, मरता नहीं डराय। कायर भाजै पीठि दै, शूर मुंडीमुंह खाय।।२१०७।।
A brave person does not wear armor, nor does he fear death. The coward turns his back and runs; the brave face challenges head-on.
जोग ते जौहर भला, घरी एकका काम। आठ पहरका जूझना, बिना खंडे संग्राम।।२१०९।।
Asceticism and valor are good, but for a short time. Struggling for eight hours without interruption is like a battle without weapons.
खांडा तिसको बाहिये, जो फिरि खांडे की देय। कायर को क्या बाहिये, दांतों तिनका लेय।।२११०।।
A sword is meant for one who wields it in battle. What use is a sword to a coward, who merely gnashes his teeth.
तीर तुपक बरछी बहैं, बिगसि जायगा चाम। शूरा के मैदान में, कायर का क्या काम।।२१११।।
Arrows, guns, and spears may be used, but they will only bring death. In the battlefield of the brave, what use is a coward.
शूरा के मैदान में, कायर का क्या काम। शूरा से शूरा मिलै, तब पूरा संग्राम।।२११२।।
In the battlefield of the brave, what use is a coward? Only when brave meet brave does the true battle occur.
शूरा के मैदान में, कायर का क्या काम। कायर भाजै पीठि दै, शूरा करै संग्राम।।२११३।।
In the battlefield of the brave, what use is a coward? The coward turns his back and flees, while the brave engage in battle.
शूरा के मैदान में, कायर बेधा आय। ना भाजै ना लडि सकै, मनहीं मन पछिताय।।२११४।।
A coward in the battlefield only brings disgrace. He neither fights nor flees, and his mind is filled with regret.
शूरा लरै कमन्द ह्वै, धरसों शीहा उतारि। कहै कबीरा मारा मुआ, कहै जो मारहिं मारि।।२११६।।
The brave fight with courage, discarding all fear. Kabir says, whether one is killed or kills, it's the same for those who fight.
शूरन सेंरी ताकई, नेजा घालै घाव। सब दल पाछा मोड़ि के, माड़ी सेतो चाव।।२१२२।।
The brave observe the battlefield and bear the wounds. They turn the entire army around, showing courage and resolve.
शूरा तौं सांच मतै, सहै जो सन्तुख धार। कायर अनी चुभाय के, पीछै झखै अपार।।२१२३।।
The brave accept the truth, bearing the burden of joy. Cowards who cause pain, are endlessly tormented from behind.
भाजि कहांलौं जाइये, भय भारी घर दूर। बहुरि कबीरा खेतरह, दल आया भरपूर।।२१२४।।
Wherever one flees, fear remains and the home is far away. Kabir says, return to the battlefield, the army has come fully prepared.
रन रोही अतिही हुआ, साजन मिला हुजूरि। शूरा शूरा ठाहरा, भाजिगई भक भूमि।।२१२६।।
The battlefield has become intense, and the beloved has met the lord. The brave stand firm, while the coward flees the earth.
बसही साथ कलतरो, धीर न बंधै कोय। भागा पीछे बाहुरे, ठाठ गुसांई सोय।।२१२८।।
When living together, the constant quarrels are not bound by patience. The coward flees and returns, while the lord enjoys the pomp.
लडने को सबही चला, शस्त्रह बांधि अनेक। साहब आगै आपना, जूझैगा कोई एक।।२१३०।।
Everyone goes to fight, with many weapons bound. In front of the lord, only one will truly struggle.
जूझैंगे तब कहैंगे, अब क्या कहैं बनाय। भीर परै मन मसकरा, लडे किधौं भगिजाय।।२१३१।।
When they fight, they will say, 'What can we say now?' Fear makes the heart smile, and the fight ends in fleeing.
शूरा नाम धराय के, अब क्यों डरपै बीर। मंडि रहिना मैदान में, सन्मुख सहना तीर।।२१३२।।
The brave are called by name, so why should a hero fear? To remain in the field and endure arrows is the true test.
कठिन कमान कबीर की, पड़ी रहै मैदान। केता योद्धा पचि गया, खैंचे संत सुजान।२१३७।।
The bow of Kabir is tough, remaining on the field. Many warriors have perished, while the wise and learned continue to persevere.
कूकरा बहु जुरिमुआ, सलसै चढी सियार। रोवत आवै गदहड़ा, प्रमोधत आय बिलार।।२१४७।।
The dog is very guilty, the jackal climbs on it. The donkey cries, while the cat comes in joy.
माता मुये एक फल, पिता मुये फल चार। भाई मूये हानि है, कहैं कबीर बिचार।।२१४९।।
The mother who dies yields one fruit, the father who dies yields four fruits. The death of a brother is a loss, says Kabir.

The barking of the unknown is like the noise of a dog. In the dark night, even thieves are not recognized.
क्या मुख ले बिनती करूं, लाज आवत है मोहि। तुम देखत अवगुन किया, कैसे भाऊं तोहि।।२१८२।।
How can I make a plea with my face? I am filled with shame. You see my faults, how should I approach you?
बनजारी बिनती करै, नरियल लायी हाथ। बाडा था सो लदि गया, नायक नाहीं साथ।।२१८३।।
The trader makes a plea, bringing a coconut in hand. The feast was there but was spoiled, and there was no hero to accompany.
सांई मेरा सावधान, मैं ही भया अचेत। मन बच करम न हरि भजा, ताते निष्फल खेत।।२१९८।।

The Qazi and Mulla are deluded, following worldly desires. They have removed religion from their hearts, taking the knife in hand.
जोर कीयां जुलूम है, मागै ज्वाब खदाय। खलिक दर खूनी खड़ा, मार मुही मुंह खाय।।२२६४।।
Oppression by force is cruelty, for which God will demand an answer. The creator stands before the murderer, and their actions will devour them.
