कामी क्रोधी लालची, इनते भक्ति न होय। भक्ति करै कोय सूरमा, जाति बरन कुल खोय।।१२२१।।

सहकामी दीपक दसा, सीखे तेल निवास। कबीर हीरा सन्त जन, सहजै सदा प्रकाश।।१२२२।।
A lamp that shares its oil and light is learned in the ways of oil. Kabir says that a true saint shines effortlessly like a gem.
काम क्रोध मद लोभी की, जब लग घट में खान। कबीर मूरख पंडिता, दोनो एक समान।।१२२३।।
When desire, anger, pride, and greed are present in the heart, the learned scholar and the fool are the same.
बुन्द खिरी नर नारि की, जैसी आतम घात। अज्ञानी मानै नहीं, येहि बात उत्पात।।१२२४।।
Just as a drop of oil affects the body, so does the harm of ignorance affect the soul. The ignorant do not recognize this fact.
कामी लज्जा ना करै, मौहीं अहलाद। नींद न मांगै साथरा, भूख न मांगे स्वाद।।१२२५।।
A desirous person has no sense of shame and no satisfaction. Sleep does not ask for a pillow, nor does hunger ask for flavor.
कहता हूं कहि जात हूं, मानै नहीं गंवार। बैरागी गिरही कहा, कामी वार न पार।।१२२६।।
I speak and go away, but the foolish do not accept it. How can a renunciant in a household and a desirous person cross the boundary?
कामी कुत्ता तीस दिन, अन्तर होय उदास। कामी नर कुत्ता सदा, छह रितु बारह मास।।१२२७।।
A desirous dog may become sad after thirty days, but a desirous man is like a dog forever, throughout the six seasons and twelve months.
कामी अमी न भावई, विष को लेवै सोध। कुबुधि न भाजै जीव की, भावै ज्यों परमोध।।१२२८।।
The desirous person does not enjoy nectar; he investigates poison. Ignorant thoughts do not affect the soul, as if they are like the highest nectar.
काम कहर असवार है, सबकों मारै धाय। कोई एक हरिजन ऊबरा, जाके नाम सहाय।।१२२९।।
Desire is a devastating calamity, it destroys everyone. Only a few saints, whose names are remembered, escape its effect.
भग भोगै भग ऊपजे, भगते बचै न कोय। कहैं कबीर भगते बचै, भक्त कहावै सोय।।१२३०।।
Enjoyment and desire both arise from fate, but no one is saved by mere devotion. Kabir says, only those who are truly devoted can escape.
जहां काम तहां नाम नहिं, तहां नाम नहिं काम। दोनों कबहू ना मिलै, रवि रजनी इक ठाम।।१२३१।।
Where there is desire, there is no name (spiritual presence); where there is name, there is no desire. They never meet, just like day and night are in separate places.
तन मन लज्जा ना रहे, काम बान उर साल। एक काम सब वश किए, सुर नर मुनि बेहाल।।१२३२।।
When there is no shame in body and mind, desire binds the heart. Desire controls everyone, even gods, men, and sages are distressed by it.
कामी तो निरभय भया, करै न कहाूं संक। इन्द्री केरे बसि पड़ा, भूगते नरक निसंक।।१२३३।।
The desirous person becomes fearless and does not have any doubts. Controlled by the senses, he experiences hell without fear.
दीपक सुन्दर देखि करि, जरि जरि मरे पतंग। बढ़ी लहर जो विषय की, जरत न मोरै अंग।।१२३४।।
Seeing the beautiful lamp, the moth burns and dies. The wave of desire grows, and it burns without harming my body.
भक्ति बिगाड़ी कामिया, इन्द्रिन केरे स्वाद। हीरा खोया हाथ सों, जनम गंवाय बाद।।१२३५।।
Desire spoils devotion and indulges the senses. One who loses a gem from his hand wastes his life in the process.
कामी का गुरु कामिनी, लोभी का गुरु दाम। कबीर का गुरु सन्त है, संतन का गुरु राम।।१२३६।।
The guru of the desirous is desire itself, the guru of the greedy is wealth. Kabir’s guru is the saint, and the guru of saints is Ram.
कोटि करम लागे रहै, एक क्रोध की लार। किया कराया सब गया, जब आया हंकार।।१२३७।।
Millions of good deeds can be undone by a single droplet of anger. Everything that was done is lost when pride arrives.
गार अंगार क्रोध झल, निन्दा धूवां होय। इत तीनों को परिहरै, साधु कहावै सोय।।१२३८।।
Anger is like burning embers, and slander is like smoke. One who abandons these three is called a saint.
क्रोध अगनि घर घर बढ़ी, जलै सकल संसार। दीन लीन निज भक्त जो, तिनके निकट उबार।।१२३९।।
Anger is a fire that grows in every house, burning the entire world. Those who are devoted and humble find refuge close to them.
यह जग कोठी काठ की, चहुंदिस लागी आग। भीतर रहै सो जलि मुये, साधु अबरे भाग।।१२४०।।
This world is a wooden mansion with fire blazing all around. Those who stay inside it burn and die; the saint escapes.
