अर्व खर्व लौ द्रव्य हैं, उदे अस्त लौं राज। भक्ति महातम न तुले, ई सब कौने काज।।१४४२।।
The riches and wealth of the world are fleeting, they rise and set like a kingdom. The greatness of devotion cannot be compared to these; what purpose do they serve?
असून्य तखत आसन अडिग, पिंड झरोखे नूर। जाके दिल में हौ बसे, सेना लिये हुजूर।।१४४३।।
The empty throne is steadfast, with the body as the window of light. He who resides in the heart is accompanied by an army of honor.
अहिरह तजी खसमहुँ तजी, बिना दांद का ढोर। मुक्ति पड़ी बिललात है, वृ़दावन की खोर।।१४४४।।
The cowherd abandons the master and the cow, without the support of teeth. Liberation is found in the wilderness of Vrindavan.
आगि जु लागि समुद्र में, धुंआ प्रगट न होय। सो जाने जो जरि मुआ, जाकी लाई होय।।१४४५।।
When fire is burning in the ocean, smoke does not appear. Only the one who is burned understands the nature of its cause.
आगि जो लागि समुद्र महैं, टूटि टूटि खसे झोल। रोबे कबिरा डंफिया, हीरा जरे अमोल।।१४४६।।
When fire burns in the ocean, it breaks and causes an overflow. Kabir says, a priceless gem burns away in its essence.
आगि जो लागि समुद्र महं, जरे जौ कांदो झारि। पूर्व पछिम के पंडिता, मुए विचारि विचारि।।१४४७।।
When fire burns in the ocean, it consumes everything like a burning ember. Scholars of the east and west ponder and die contemplating it.
आगे सीढ़ी सांकरी, पीछे चकनाचूर। परदा तर की सुंदरी, रही धको ते दूर।।१४४८।।
In front is a fragile ladder, behind it is destruction. The beauty of the veil remains hidden and distant.
आजु काल दिन कइक में, स्थिर नाहिं शरीर। कहहिं कबीर कस रखिहो, कांचे बासन नीर।।१४४९।।
In these times, the body is not stable even for a day. Kabir questions, how can you preserve delicate clothes?
आधी साखी सिर खंड़ी, जो निरुवारी जाय। क्या पंडित की पोथियां, राति दिवस मिलि गाय।।१४५०।।
Half of the verse is cut off at the head, which is of no use. What are the books of scholars if they are lost day and night?
आपनि आपनि शरी की, सभनि लीनो मान। हरि की बात दुरन्तरे, परी न काहू जान।।१४५१।।
One's own body is taken as important by everyone, but no one understands the deep essence of Hari's words.
आपा तजे हरि भजे, नखसिख तजे विकार। सब जीवन से निबरहे, साधुमता है सार।।१४५२।।
One who renounces their ego and worships Hari, discards all impurities. Such a person lives a life free from all faults; this is the essence of saintliness.
आस्ति कहौं तो कोइ न पतीजे, बिना अस्ति का सिद्धा। कहहिं कबीर सनहु हे सन्तो, हीरी हीरा विद्धा।।१४५३।।
If one speaks of existence, no one believes; without existence, there is no true knowledge. Kabir says, listen saints, the diamond is recognized by its own light.
इहां ई शंबल करि लेउ, आगे विषयी वाट। स्वर्ग बिसाहन सब चले, जहं बनिया नहि हाट।।१४५४।।
In this world, if you accumulate wealth, it will only lead to a difficult path ahead. Even heaven is deserted; where there is no market for merchants.
ई जग तो जहड़े गया, भया जोग नहिं भोग। तील झाारि कबिरा लिया, तिलठी झारे लोग।।१४५५।।
This world has turned into a wilderness, where there is no joy or comfort. Kabir says, after removing the sesame seeds, people are still searching for them.
ई मन चंचल ई मन चोर, ई मन शुद्ध ठगहार। मनमनम कहत सुर नर मुनि जहंड़े, मन के लक्ष दुआर।।१४५६।।
This mind is restless, this mind is a thief, and this mind is a pure swindler. Even saints, sages, and deities speak of the mind as the door to all goals.
ई माया है चूहड़ी, औ चुहड़े की जोय। बाप पूत अरुझााय के, संग न काहुक होय।।१४५७।।
This illusion (maya) is like a rat catcher, always trapping. Even father and son get entangled in it, but in the end, no one stays together.
ऊपर की दोऊ गई, हिय की गई हिराय। कहहिं कबीर जाके चारों गई, तासो कहा बसाय।।१४५८।।
Both external eyes are gone, and the internal heart is lost too. Kabir says, the one who has lost all four (external and internal), how can he be managed?
ऊपरि की दोऊ गई, हियहु कि फूटी आंखि। कबीर बिचारा क्या करे, जो जिवहिं नाही झांंकि।।१४५९।।
Both external eyes are gone, and even the internal eye is shattered. Kabir wonders, what can a poor soul do, who cannot see with either?
एक एक निरुवारिये, जो निरुवारी जाय। दुई मुख के बोलना, घना तमाचा खाय।।१४६०।।
One must overcome each problem, as every solution leads to another. Speaking with a double-tongue only invites slaps.
