एसी बाणी बोलिये, मन का आपा खोइ। औरन को सीतल करै, आपौ सीतल होइ।।२४२।।
Speak such words that dissolve the ego of the mind. If you make others calm, you too will become calm.
कबीर हरि कग नाव, सूँ प्रीति रहै इकवार। तौ मुख तैं मोती झड़ै, हीरे अन्त न पार।।२४३।।
Kabir says, if you have love for Hari with a single boat, pearls will fall from your mouth and diamonds will be found at the end.
कोई एक राखै सावधां, चेतनि पहरै जागि। बस्तर बासन सूँ खिसै, चोर न सकई लागि।।२४४।।
One who stays vigilant and aware, even if the clothes are worn out, the thief cannot get to them.
पदारथ पेलि करि, कंकर लीया हाथि। जोड़ी बिछटी हंस की, पड़या बगां के साथि।।२४५।।
Holding a pebble with the hand, and pairing it with a swan, was like getting along with the beggar.
जो ऊग्या सो आंथवै, फूल्या सो कुमिलाइ। जो चिणियां सो ढहि पड़ै, जो आया सो जाइ।।२४६।।
What has grown will wither, what has blossomed will fade. What has been gathered will fall, what has come will go.
सीतलता तब जाणियें, समिता रहै समाइ। पष छाँड़ै निरपष रहै, सबद न देष्या जाइ।।२४७।।
One should recognize coolness when tranquility is maintained. Without the touch of warmth, the words will not reach you.
खूंदन तौ धरती सहै, बाढ़ सहै बनराइ। कुसबद तौ हरिजन सहै, दूजै सह्या न जाइ।।२४८।।
The earth can bear the flooding, the forest can withstand the floods. But the bad words are unbearable for the righteous; they cannot tolerate them.
हीरा परा बजार में, रहा छार लपिटाइ। ब तक मूरख चलि गये, पारखि लिया उठाइ।।२४९।।
The diamond remained covered in dust in the market. Only the discerning picked it up and recognized its value.
सुरति करौ मेरे साइयां, हम हैं भोजन माहिं। आपे ही बहि जाहिंगे, जौ नहिं पकरौ बाहिं।।२५०।।
O Lord, focus on us; we are the meal. If you do not hold on to us, we will leave on our own.
कुमति कीच चेला भरा, गुरु ज्ञान जल होय। जनम-जनम का मोरचा, पल में डारे धोय।।२५१।।
The disciple filled with ignorance is like dirt; the Guru's knowledge is like water. It washes away the burden of many lifetimes in an instant.
जो गुरु बसै बनारसी, सीष समुन्दर तीर। एक पलक बिसरे नहीं, जो गुण होय शरीर।।२५२।।
If the Guru resides in Varanasi, the disciple's head is like the shore of the ocean. He does not forget even for a moment the qualities of the Guru.
गुरु को सिर राखिये, चलिये आज्ञा माहिं। कहैं कबीर ता दास को, तीन लोक भय नहिं।।२५३।।
Keep the Guru's blessings on your head and follow his commands. Kabir says that the servant who does this is fearless in all three worlds.
लच्छ कोष जो गुरु बसै, दीजै सुरति पठाय। शब्द तुरी बसवार है, छिन आवै छिन जाय।।२५४।।
If the Guru resides in the treasury, offer your focus. The words of the Guru are fleeting, coming and going in moments.
गुरु बिन ज्ञान न उपजै, गुरु बिन मिलै न मोष। गुरु बिन लखै न सत्य को, गुरु बिन मिटे न दोष।।२५५।।
Without the Guru, knowledge does not arise; without the Guru, liberation is not attained. Without the Guru, truth is not realized, and without the Guru, faults are not removed.
गुरु शरणागति छाड़ि के, करै भरौसा और। सुख सम्पति की कह चली, नहीं परक ये ठौर।।२५६।।
Leaving the refuge of the Guru, one places trust elsewhere. The promises of comfort and wealth are transient; this place is not reliable.
सिष खांडा गुरु भसकला, चढ़ै शब्द खरसान। शब्द सहै सम्मुख रहै, निपजै शीष सुजान।।२५७।।
The disciple's knowledge is like a blade; when sharpened by the Guru's words, it remains sharp. A wise head is ever-present and well-attuned.
सोइ-सोइ नाच नचाइये, जेहि निबहे गुरु प्रेम। कहै कबीर गुरु प्रेम बिन, कतहुँ कुशल नहि क्षेम।।२५८।।
Dance with the same devotion that the Guru instills. Kabir says that without love for the Guru, no place is secure or well-off.
कोटिन चन्दा उगही, सूरज कोटि हज़ार। तीमिर तौ नाशै नहीं, बिन गुरु घोर अंधार।।२५९।।
Millions of moons and countless suns rise, but darkness does not dissipate. Without the Guru, there is profound darkness.
तबही गुरु प्रिय बैन कहि, शीष बढ़ी चित प्रीत। ते रहियें गुरु सनमुखाँ, कबहूँ न दीजै पीठ।।२६०।।
Then say that the Guru is beloved; the mind and heart are uplifted. Always remain in the presence of the Guru; never turn your back on them.
