जो गुरु ते भ्रम न मिटे, भ्रान्ति न जिसका जाय। सो गुरु झूठा जानिये, त्यागत देर न लाय।।२८१।।

सद्गुरु ऐसा कीजिये, लोभ मोह भ्रम नाहिं। दरिया सो न्यारा रहे, दीसे दरिया माहि।।२८२।।
Find a true Guru who is free from greed, attachment, and delusion. Such a Guru is like a river that remains distinct yet appears within the ocean.
जो गुरु को तो गम नहीं, पाहन दिया बताय। शिष शोधे बिन सेइया, पार न पहुँचा जाए।।२८३।।
A Guru who has no concern for your well-being and only points to lifeless stones cannot help you cross the ocean of life.
सोचे गुरु के पक्ष में, मन को दे ठहराय। चंचल से निश्चल भया, नहिं आवै नहीं जाय।।२८४।।
When one meditates on the Guru's teachings and steadies the mind, the restless becomes still, neither coming nor going.
गुरुवा तो घर फिरे, दीक्षा हमारी लेह। कै बूड़ौ कै ऊबरो, टका परदानी देह।।२८५।।
The Guru returns home after giving initiation, leaving us to drown or swim on our own. Such a Guru is like a penny-pinching miser.
गुरुवा तो सस्ता भया, कौड़ी अर्थ पचास। अपने तन की सुधि नहीं, शिष्य करन की आस।।२८६।।
The Guru has become so cheap, worth just a few pennies, that he does not even care for himself, yet hopes to guide his disciples.
जाका गुरु है गीरही, गिरही चेला होय। कीच-कीच के धोवते, दाग न छूटे कोय।।२८७।।
If the Guru is worldly, the disciple will also be worldly. No matter how much they try to cleanse themselves, the stains will not go away.
गुरु मिला तब जानिये, मिटै मोह तन ताप। हरष शोष व्यापे नहीं, तब गुरु आपे आप।।२८८।।
Know that you have found the true Guru when all delusions and bodily afflictions are dispelled. Then joy and sorrow no longer affect you, and the Guru is truly realized.
यह तन विषय की बेलरी, गुरु अमृत की खान। सीस दिये जो गुरु मिलै, तो भी सस्ता जान।।२८९।।
This body is a vine of desires, but the Guru is a mine of nectar. Even if one has to give one's head to find the Guru, consider it a small price to pay.
गुरु बिचारा क्या करे, ह्रदय भया कठोर। नौ नेजा पानी चढ़ा, पथर न भीजी कोर।।२९०।।
What can the poor Guru do when the heart has become hard? No matter how much water is poured, the stone remains dry.
कहता हूँ कहि जात हूँ, देता हूँ हेला। गुरु की करनी गुरु जाने, चेला की चेला।।२९१।।
I speak and go on speaking, without any hesitation. The Guru's deeds are known to him, and the disciple's to the disciple.
शिष्य पुजै आपना, गुरु पूजै सब साध। कहैं कबीर गुरु शीष को, मत है अगम अगाध।।२९२।।
The disciple worships his own ego, while the Guru worships all beings. Kabir says, the true Guru's wisdom is deep and unfathomable.
शिष किरपिन गुरु स्वारथी, किले योग यह आय। कीच-कीच के दाग को, कैसे सके छुड़ाय।।२९३।।
A miserly disciple and a selfish Guru—how can this be a good match? The stains of greed cannot be washed away, no matter how hard they try.
स्वामी सेवक होय के, मनही में मिलि जाय। चतुराई रीझै नहीं, रहिये मन के माय।।२९४।।
When the master and servant become one in mind, cleverness and pretense hold no value. Remain simple at heart.
सत को खोजत मैं फिरूँ, सतिया न मिलै न कोय। जब सत को सतिया मिले, विष तजि अमृत होय।।२९५।।
I wandered in search of truth, but could not find anyone truthful. When the truth meets the truthful, poison turns into nectar.
कबीर गुरु की भक्ति बिन, नारी कूकरी होय। गली-गली भूँकत फिरै, टूक न डारै कोय।।२९६।।
Without devotion to the Guru, a woman becomes like a stray dog, wandering from street to street, and no one gives her even a crumb.
चौंसठ दीवा जोय के, चौदह चन्दा माहिं। तेहि घर किसका चाँदना, जिहि घर सतगुरु नाहिं।।२९७।।
Even if you light sixty-four lamps and fourteen moons in your house, what light will there be if the true Guru is not present?
कबीर चन्दर के भिरै, नीम भी चन्दन होय। बूड़यो बाँस बड़ाइया, यों जनि बूड़ो कोय।।२९८।।
Kabir says, in the company of the sandalwood tree, even the bitter neem tree becomes fragrant. But a bamboo tree, despite its height, sinks in water. Let no one sink like that.
पशुआ सों पालो परो, रहू-रहू हिया न खीज। ऊसर बीज न उगसी, बोवै दूना बीज।।२९९।।
Raise and nurture even animals, but do not lose patience. Seeds sown in barren land will not grow, even if you sow twice as much.
साकट का मुख बिम्ब है, निकसत बचन भुवंग। ताकि औषण मौन है, विष नहिं व्यापै अंग।।३००।।
The face of an ungodly person is like a fruit, but their words are like a serpent’s venom. The best ornament for them is silence, so the poison does not spread.
