संगति के सुख ऊपजे, कुसंगति के दुख होय। संसय खंडे जो जना, जो शब्द विवेकी होय।।१६८२।।
Happiness arises from good association, and misery from bad association. One who can discern this is wise and free from doubts.
संसारी समय विचारी, कोई गिरही कोई जोग। अवसर मारे जात है, ते चेतु बिराने लोग।१६८३।।
Contemplating worldly time, some are householders and some are yogis. Opportunities are lost, so be cautious, O ignorant ones.
सज्जन ते दुर्ज्जन भयो, सुनि काहु के बोल। कांसा तांबा होय रहा, हता ठिकों के मोल।।१६८४।।
One becomes virtuous or wicked based on what one hears. Just as brass and copper remain, their value is measured by worth.
सद्गुरु वचन सुनहु सन्तो, मति लिन्हा शिर भार। हौं हजूर ठाड़ कहते हौं, तैं क्यों संभार।।१६८५।।
Listen to the words of the true Guru, take them to heart. If you stand firm and follow them, why worry?
मसो कागद छुवो नहीं, कलम धरो नहिं हाथ। चाहिहुं युग को महातम, कबीर मुखहिं जनाई बात।।१६८६।।
I do not touch paper or hold a pen in my hand. If you want to know the greatness of the ages, Kabir speaks it with his mouth.
सपने सोवा मानवा, खोलि जो देखे नैन। जीव परा बहुलूट में, ना कुछ लेन न देन।।१६८७।।
Dreams are mere illusions for the mind, only visible through the eyes. The soul is caught in many illusions, having nothing to give or take.
सबकी उत्पति धरती, सब जीवन प्रतिपाल। धरती न जाने आप गुण, ऐसो गुरु विचार।।१६८८।।
The earth gives rise to all and sustains all life. The earth itself does not know its own virtues; thus is the wisdom of the Guru.
सब ते सांचा ही भला, जो दिल सांचा होय। सांच बिना सुख है नहीं, कोटि करे जो कोय।।१६८९।।
The best is that which is true; what is true is in the heart. Without truth, there is no happiness, no matter how many efforts one makes.
समुझे की गति एक है, जिहि समझे सब ठौर। कहहिं कबिर ये बीच के, कहै और की और।।१६९०।।
The essence of understanding is the same, no matter where it is perceived. Kabir says that the middle path is often considered different.
सब ही तो लघुता भली, लघुता ते सब होय। ज्यों द्वितीय के चन्द्रमा, नवावै सब कोय।।१६९१।।
All find greatness in humility; through humility, everything is achieved. Just as the second moon does not rise, all must achieve greatness.
समुझाये समुझे नहीं, पर हाथ आप बिकाय। मैं खींचत हौं आपु को, चला सो जमपुर जाय।।१६९२।।
One tries to explain but is not understood, while oneself is sold in the process. I pull myself along, yet it leads to the city of death.
सांचा शब्द कबीर का, हृदया देखि विचारी। चित दे समुझे नहिं मोहि, कहत भए जुग चारि।।१६९३।।
The true word of Kabir, considered by the heart, has been said for ages. The mind does not understand it, though it has been spoken for four ages.
स्वर्ग पताल के बीच में, दुई तंबिरया विध्द। षट दर्शन संशय परे, लक्ष चौरासी सिद्ध।।१६९४।।
Between heaven and earth, there are two paths. Beyond the six philosophies and doubts, there is a goal of 84 perfections.
सांप बिछी का मंत्र है, महुरो झारा जाय। सलिल मोह नदिया बहै, पांव कहां ठहराय।।१६९५।।
The mantra of the snake and scorpion has gone away; the flowing river of delusion continues, where can the feet find rest?
सायर बुद्धि बनाय के, बाए बिचक्षण चौर। सारी दुनिया जहड़े गया, कोइ न लागा ठौर।।१६९६।।
With sharp intellect and wisdom, the clever thief roams around. The entire world is lost, and no place seems stable.
सावन केरा सेहरा, बूंद परे असमान। सारी दुनिया वैष्णव भया, गुरु नहिं लागा कान।।१६९७।।
In the monsoon's desert, even a drop is beyond the sky. The entire world has become Vaishnav, but no one listens to the Guru.
साहू चोर चीन्हे नहीं, अन्ध मति के हीन। पारख बिना बिना सहै, करि विचार ही भिन्न।।१६९८।।
The merchant does not recognize the thief, being blind in understanding. Without insight, even the expert suffers; all opinions are different.
साहू से भी चोरबा, चोरहु से भौ होत। तब जानिहुगे जीयरा, जबहिं परेगा तुज्झ।।१६९९।।
Even worse than the merchant is the thief, who creates fear from the thief. You will understand your own self when you face it directly.
साहेब साहेब सब कहें, मोहि अंदेशा ओर। साहेब से परचा नहीं, बैठहुगे कहि ठौर।।१७००।।
Everyone calls the master 'master,' but I have doubts. There is no recognition from the master; one must find their own place.
